Education

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline from any UGC approved reputed university or institute.

Experience

    • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO, Development Agency

Additional Requirements

KNOWLEDGE:

  • In-depth understanding of silk production processes including charka spinning, endi weaving, dyeing, silk production and finishing
  • Knowledge on sericulture operations like cocoon production and supply chain management of raw materials (cocoon, yarn, dyes and accessories)
  • Awareness of market trend and demand driven production planning with budgeting

SKILLS:

  • Skilled in sericulture program planning and implementation.
  • Technical proficiency in textile machinery and production workflows
  • Strong production planning and coordination skill
  • Strong communication and problem solving skill

COMPETENCIES:

  • Team building and capacity development across diversity groups
  • Adaptability to remote and challenging work environments
  • Resilience in managing field level challenges such as weather disruptions and resource limitations

Responsibilities & Context

 

The role is responsible for leading the planning, budgeting, and execution of silk spinning and weaving operations at the Bhasan Char project site. This includes overseeing production processes such as charka spinning, endi fabric weaving, dyeing, and finishing, while ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery.

  • Lead annual project planning and budgeting for silk production activities
  • Supervise end-to-end operations including machinery installation, raw material sourcing, and production scheduling
  • Ensure accurate accounting, inventory management, and cost control across all production functions
  • Provide technical guidance and managerial support to staff and artisans
  • Organize and monitor training programs to build capacity in spinning, weaving, and production management
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for quality assurance, marketing, and supply chain operations
  • Maintain compliance with organizational standards, donor requirements, and safeguarding policies
  • Prepare and share regular production, financial, and progress reports with management
  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
