Responsibilities & Context
- Diagnosis & Treatment Planning: Examining teeth, gums, and mouth, using X-rays, and developing treatment plans with patients.
- Clinical Procedures: Performing fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, extractions, root canals, and cosmetic treatments like whitening or veneers.
- Preventive Care: Applying sealants, providing fluoride treatments, and educating patients on diet, brushing, and flossing.
- Patient Management: Administering anesthetics, prescribing medication (antibiotics, painkillers), and managing patient comfort and anxiety.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate patient dental records and writing reports.
- Collaboration: Referring patients to dental hygienists, therapists, or specialists like orthodontists when necessary.
