Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • BSc in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
  • Educational qualifications can be relaxed for candidates with long-standing, exceptional hands-on experience in operating glass tempering furnaces.

Experience

    • 2 to 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Glass & Ceramics Manufacturing

Additional Requirements

Experience Requirements:

  • 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience working directly on a factory floor.
  • Direct experience as a primary or assistant furnace operator in a Glass Tempering plant is highly mandatory. Candidates familiar with brands like North Glass, Land glass, Glaston/Tamglass, etc., will get extra priority.

Additional Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of heating cycles, cooling pressures, and glass properties.
  • Alertness, quick decision-making capability, and troubleshooting skills to handle emergencies (like glass breakage inside the furnace).
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work in rotating shifts (Day/Night) as per production demands.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Operate and monitor the automated Glass Tempering Furnace (PLC/Computer Control Panel) according to standard operating procedures.
  • Set and adjust precise heating time, chamber temperature curves, and air quenching/cooling pressures based on glass thickness (3.5 mm to 19mm) and type (Clear, Low-E, Reflective, Tinted).
  • Inspect incoming raw glass sheets for correct dimensions, proper edge polishing, and washing quality before loading them onto the furnace bed.
  • Continuously monitor the furnace bed, rollers, and heating elements to ensure smooth movement and prevent glass jamming or breakage inside the heating chamber.
  • Conduct post-tempering quality checks on completed glass sheets to detect visual or structural defects, such as optical distortion, roller waves, surface scratches, or bow/warp.
  • Perform regular break tests (fragmentation tests) according to safety glass standards to ensure the tempered glass meets quality compliance.
  • Conduct daily basic maintenance of the furnace, including cleaning the rollers, checking air blowers, and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues immediately to the Production Manager.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including wearing proper cut-resistant PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while loading and unloading heavy glass sheets.
