- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, or a related field.

- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in knit product development, fabric innovation, and garment manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of knitted fabric structures, yarn technologies, dyeing, finishing, and performance testing.
- Proven experience in leading R&D teams and managing multiple development projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of emerging textile technologies, functional finishes, sustainable materials, and market trends.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and relevant textile/product development software.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team-development capabilities.
Responsibilities & Context
- Develop new knitted fabric constructions, textures, and finishes.
- Research market trends, customer requirements, and emerging technologies.
- Create innovative fabric solutions for performance, fashion, and sustainability needs.
- Conduct yarn and raw-material trials.
- Develop fabric samples according to buyer specifications.
- Analyze technical requirements and convert them into workable knitting programs.
- Ensure timely sample development and approval.
- Work closely with merchandising and design teams during product development.
- Improve knitting efficiency, productivity, and fabric quality.
- Identify and resolve knitting-related issues such as defects, GSM variation, spirality, and shrinkage.
- Optimize machine settings, yarn utilization, and production parameters.
- Recommend new machine technologies and process improvements.
- Establish quality standards for newly developed fabrics.
- Evaluate fabric performance through testing and analysis.
- Investigate root causes of quality problems and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with buyer and industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance to knitting, dyeing, and finishing departments.
- Support production teams in scaling up newly developed fabrics.
- Train engineers, supervisors, and operators on new developments and techniques.
- Develop cost-effective fabric solutions without compromising quality.
- Reduce wastage and improve resource utilization.
- Explore sustainable fibers, recycled materials, and eco-friendly production methods.
- Support sustainability initiatives and certifications.
- Attend technical meetings with buyers and customers.
- Present fabric developments and innovation projects.
- Address customer feedback and technical concerns.
- Ensure developed products meet customer expectations and commercial viability.
- Lead and supervise the R&D knitting team.
- Set departmental objectives and KPIs.
- Monitor project timelines and development progress.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
- Maintain records of development trials, test results, and approvals.
- Prepare technical reports and management presentations.
- Track innovation projects and development success rates
