Requirements
Education
- Essential Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Preferrable Masters in Nursing Science/MPH.
Additional Requirements
- Age At least 18 years
- Essential 2 years of previous working experience in medical sector.
- Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable.
- Experience of working in a referral team an advantage
- Experience working as supervisor and managing a complex team desirable.
- Essential : English and Bangla Language
- Desirable : Chittagongian Dialect.
- Essential strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities & Context
- Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
- Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
- Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
- Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
- Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
- Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
- MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Communication:
- Be available to receive calls from the referral team members working at KTP, CSH and CMCH
- Ensure good collaboration with ER NTS, NAM and PSS at KTP,who manage the transfer nurses (TNs).
- Give feedback regarding TNs to ER NTS and NAM.
- Create and maintain good working relationships with staff (MOH and Private Centers) from referral facilities at Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram.
- Liaise with patient families or designated guardians as appropriate.
- At the end of each working day, provide feedback to referral management team at KTP (HCL/MAM/NAM) and CXB coordination (Dep. MedCo/MedCo Support ) regarding the referral cases.
- Report any safety and security concerns of referral nurses to security responsible as soon as possible.
- Ensure good collaboration between ambulance drivers, PSSs, TNs and RNs
- Patient Management:
- Adhere to MSF’s Lifesaving Referral Criteria at all times and seek approval from line manager on any referrals that do not meet criteria.
- Adhere to the terms of the MoU and MSF referral policy.
- Liaise with referral facility staff on patient diagnosis, management and discharge plans.
- Provide feedback to KTP referral team on referral patients.
- Help to identify any gaps in referral site resources and notify appropriate persons.
- Make sure the proper handover of patient by RNs and TNs during admission and discharge.
- Make sure adequate support and advice provided to patients during admission and stay in hospital.
- Referral data management:
- Collect, compile and share weekly and monthly report for the MedCo Support.
- Liaise with CXB Data manager and KTP data supervisor regarding referral data collection when required.
- Completes and/or coordinate patient care administration (exit, transfer referral documents, etc.), reviews patient care information and collects data and submits data and analysis (as requested) on a regular schedule.
- Meetings/representation:
- Actively participate in MSF internal meetings (Monthly referral meeting with KTP, weekly meeting with RNs from all sites)
- Participate to all the (relevant) external meetings organized at referral hospitals
- Finance management:
- Collect and submit invoices to the referral Finance Assistant on a weekly basis with the accompanying treatment evidence.
- Resolve any discrepancies in the invoice(s) with the referral site focal person and referral nurses.
- Manage the daily cash flow (advance opening, closing) for patient and caretaker maintenance costs.
- Others:
- Give suggestions to improve the functioning of the referral pathway
- Because of the emergency nature of MSF’s referral work, working hours may be irregular and employees are expected to be flexible in their approach to working hours under emergency conditions.
- Perform other additional duties on request of the line manager
- He/she works under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator Support.
- He/she will supervise referral nurses, transfer nurses, patient support supervisor and cleaner based in Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram.
- To replace the NTS from CTG/Cox Bazaar when needed
