Requirements

Education

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

    • At least 20 years

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 20+ years of experience in senior leadership roles, preferably in economic research, public policy, development organizations, think tanks, or related sectors.
  •  Strong leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven experience in institutional development and organizational management.
  • Strong understanding of economic policy, governance, and development issues.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale programs.
  • Proven ability to secure funding and manage donor relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and high-impact environment.
  • Strong public speaking and media engagement capabilities.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership and organizational excellence.

Responsibilities & Context

Job title: Executive Director

 

Work Location: CSER, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Division/Department: Executive Management

Reports to: Board of Governors / Governing Council

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement CSER’s long-term strategic vision and institutional objectives.
  • Lead and oversee all research, policy, operational, and administrative functions of the organization.
  • Position CSER as a leading policy and economic research institution nationally and internationally.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, development partners, academia, and private sector stakeholders.
  • Oversee the quality, impact, and relevance of research outputs and policy recommendations.
  •  Lead institutional fundraising, donor engagement, and grant acquisition activities.
  • Ensure effective financial management, governance, compliance, and organizational sustainability.
  •  Represent CSER at national and international conferences, policy dialogues, seminars, and media engagements.
  •  Mentor senior management and research teams to foster a high-performance organizational culture.
  • Promote innovation, ethical standards, transparency, and collaboration across the organization.
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation and organizational risk management.
  • Oversee stakeholder communications and strengthen CSER’s public reputation and visibility.
