Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Policy or Governance, Environmental Science, Disaster Management, Climate Change from any recognized university or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Additional Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field of Climate Change, Climate Adaptation or Climate Policies.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bangla.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (Bangla typing is essential)
  • Must be a team player with mutual trust and understanding in a mixed team
  • Self-motivated, and able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision
  • Organised and problem- solving mentality, capable of working under pressure, and juggling with multiple priorities,
  • Demonstrates gender and cultural awareness capable to.
  • Must be passionate about SDG 6 and SDG 13, advocacy, campaign and engagement.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Purpose: WaterAid works with local partners and communities to improve access to water and sanitation and promote good hygiene. S/he will support/assist in the development and implementation of advocacy and climate campaigning related to impact of climate change on water. This aims to influence global, national, and local level stakeholders to priorities water as fundamental issue in the debate and discussion in climate talks. S/he will uphold WaterAid’s mission and vision on achieving clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene considering climate change to underprivileged people globally, through convincing the governments to change laws, linking policy makers with people on the ground.

Key Responsibilities

1. Governance, Policy, and Research Analysis:

  • Support in developing strategic direction and conduct research, data gathering, and monitoring of policies related to WASH, Water, and climate change.
  • Supporting to formulate policy messages to move WASH and Climate adaptation/mitigation agenda forward nationally and globally (where applicable).
  • Assist in developing top tier policy advocacy products and tools, including policy briefs, investment cases, reports, papers, and other policy advocacy products.

2. Capacity Development:

  • Support in providing capacity building to key stakeholders and partners on climate change
  • Help to assist in a program-oriented advocacy plan on climate change

3. Campaign, Communications and Knowledge management:

  • Take initiative in maintaining and updating contact database and of profiles key stakeholders of climate change particularly in the government and academia.
  • Take responsibility for providing effective documentation – knowledge products, including gathering stories and cases.
  • Work closely with communications team to fulfil wider advocacy and communication agenda.

4. Networking and collaboration

  • Maintain and strengthen partnerships with international civil society allies and networks working on international development stakeholders, and communities along with youth networks and affiliation to facilitate climate induced policy level discussion on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
  • Identify and research potential clients and partners on climate change.
  • Support in conducting meetings and build partnerships both nationally and internationally.
  • Support the sector capacity development initiatives on WASH induced climate change topic.
  • Represent the organization with key policy advocacy allies and coalitions, maintain a roster of key relationships, and support senior management engagement with high level policy advocacy targets.

5.Support to other departments:

  • Support climate change programme in understanding overall advocacy and influencing agenda during implementation of projects and document
  • Monitor and research, policies, programs, and other information relevant to fundraising.
  • Identify and research potential clients and partners on climate change. Conduct meetings and build partnerships both nationally and internationally.

6. Undertake any specific work as assigned by the line manager and/or WAB authority as per need of the organisation.
