Responsibilities & Context

Job Overview:

Muslim Hands International is seeking a dedicated and skilled Volunteer ENT Specialist to provide essential ear, nose, and throat medical services in Teknaf and Ukhiya. The specialist will be responsible for the comprehensive management of ENT patients, including minor procedures and urgent care, within the camp settings. The role demands flexibility, quick decision-making, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care for the patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Management: Administer recommended management for regular and referred ENT patients from various blocks. Adjust treatment plans as needed based on patient response and environmental limitations.
  • Procedures and Operations: Perform minor procedures and operations, such as managing foreign bodies, keloids, abscesses, and masses in Ukhiya and Nayapara camp settings.
  • Patient Evaluation: Assess patients’ medical history, physical status, and medication use to determine the appropriate management plan. Refer patients to higher centers when critical management or major operations are necessary.
  • Anesthesia Administration: Administer local anesthesia and monitor vital signs throughout surgical procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with other healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care before, during, and after management and procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Quickly and appropriately respond to any complications or emergencies that arise during outpatient department (OPD) sessions.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of patient care, including talley sheets, patient record books, medicine tokens, and the Rohingya log book as per organizational rules.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with the latest ENT patient care techniques and technologies.
  • Resource Management: Ensure the availability of medicines, medical equipment, and other necessary logistics related to local anesthesia at Ukhiya camp and Nayapara Registrar camp.
  • Coordination with Government: Maintain close coordination with government officials through team leaders and medical officers at Ukhiya and Nayapara camps.
  • Other Responsibilities: Undertake any other duties assigned by the authority to support the organization’s mission and ensure optimal patient safety.
