Additional Requirements

Experience: Minimum 05 (five) years relevant working experience in advocacy with demonstrable skills. A solid track record in influencing both LGIs and government agencies, coupled with a deep comprehension of their respective work cultures and environments is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills both in Bangla & English.
  • Ability to establish good relationship, networking and rapport with stakeholders and partners.
  • Knowledge, experience, and skills of planning and budgeting, report writing.
  • Must be a self-motivated person with good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

We work to offer clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to underprivileged people globally, through convincing the governments to change laws, linking policy makers with people on the ground, pooling knowledge and resources, and rallying support from people and organisations from different corners of the world – altogether making lasting change happen on a massive scale.

Job Purpose: The incumbent will proactively contribute to accomplish the organisational advocacy agenda for delivering results aligning with the country programme strategy. WaterAid Bangladesh maintains linkages with WASH service providers especially in the government sector as well as with the LGIs, relevant INGOs, NGOs, private sector, and Development Agencies. S/he, as a front-runner in the related issues, will take initiatives in documenting as well as developing the capacity and knowledge of WaterAid Bangladesh’s programmes and partner staffs to understand the policy-perspectives of universal access to WASH. S/he will be the key person in planning, organising, and managing knowledge of advocacy actions and events by WaterAid – preparing relevant presentations /briefs /documents, as required – and disseminate to the relevant audiences, as necessitated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare (the first draft of) policy briefs, presentations, and other related documents by conducting desk research and discussions taking forward WaterAid Bangladesh’s WASH policy advocacy related work.
  • Organise events to share and promote the advocacy initiatives and achievements of WaterAid Bangladesh at the local, national, and international level.
  • Organise and co-facilitate/facilitate various capacity building, networking, and collaborative initiatives for WaterAid Bangladesh and its strategic partners and WASH Networks.
  • Take lead in documenting and managing knowledge, and information – and disseminate them, as appropriate, to strengthen WaterAid’s support to WASH sector service providers to model inclusive and sustainable services, and advocate for increased WASH investments and performance measures in national WASH systems data.
  • Prepare (the first draft of) Concept Notes and contribute developing proposals for impactful WASH projects.
  • Represent WaterAid Bangladesh, as assigned, in different local, national, and international events sharing and promoting WaterAid Bangladesh’s WASH policy advocacy related work.
  • In addition, any other responsibilities assigned by the line Manager to be done for the interest of WAB.

Reportable To: Policy and Advocacy Lead

Workstation: WaterAid Bangladesh Country Office, Dhaka

Working Hous: 37.5

Contract Tenure: Long Term

Travel: Willingness to travel on a regular basis to remote areas of Bangladesh and overseas is required. It is expected that 20-30% time should be dedicated to travel.

Ways of Working: Internal: Internal working relationships includes but not limited to all other Cross Functional Departments, Projects/Programmes and Teams within WaterAid Bangladesh

External: External stakeholders includes, WAUK/Regional, PNGO, Donor, govt. entity etc.

Compensation & Other Benefits

Salary & Benefits: Monthly gross salary BDT 89,141/-. In addition, festival bonus, provident fund, gratuity, life insurance for self, health insurance for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc. are applicable as per policy provision.
