Responsibilities & Context

1. Surveillance and Monitoring:

– Conduct regular infection surveillance activities.

– Track and analyze infection rates and trends within the facility.

– Report findings to relevant healthcare teams and authorities.

2. Infection Prevention and Control Programs:

– Develop, implement, and maintain infection control policies and procedures.

– Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

– Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate infection risks.

3. Education and Training:

– Provide ongoing education and training to healthcare staff on infection prevention and control practices.

– Develop educational materials and resources.

– Conduct orientation programs for new staff members.

4. Outbreak Investigation and Management:

– Lead investigations into infection outbreaks.

– Coordinate response plans and implement control measures.

– Communicate with public health officials as necessary.

5. Policy Development and Implementation:

– Develop and update infection control policies based on the latest guidelines and research.

– Ensure policies are effectively communicated and implemented across the facility.

6. Compliance and Audits:

– Conduct regular audits of infection control practices.

– Ensure compliance with standards set by accrediting bodies.

– Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections.

7. Consultation and Collaboration:

– Act as a resource for infection control-related issues.

– Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve infection control practices.

– Participate in interdisciplinary committees and quality improvement initiatives.
