Responsibilities & Context

The Clinical Psychologist Intern will work in a supportive and structured environment under the direct supervision of a licensed American psychologist. The primary focus will be on providing intensive, personalized support to a 15-year-old boy with ASD and OCD, helping him navigate daily challenges and improve his overall functioning and quality of life. This role is integral to the adolescent’s care team, aiming to create a positive impact on his development while contributing to the intern’s professional growth and dissertation research. Working hours will be structured around the adolescent’s schedule, requiring the intern to be adaptable and responsive to his needs. This role demands a high level of empathy, patience, and commitment, with a strong focus on achieving measurable progress through evidence-based interventions.

Job Responsibilities

Individual Support and Coaching:

• Provide personalized one-on-one support and coaching to a 15-year-old boy diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

• Develop and implement individualized therapeutic and behavioral intervention strategies tailored to the adolescent’s needs.

Monitoring and Documentation:

• Observe, monitor, and document the adolescent’s progress and behaviors during sessions.

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of interventions, progress notes, and any incidents that occur during sessions.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with the supervising psychologist to review the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and make necessary adjustments.

• Communicate regularly with the adolescent’s family and other professionals involved in his care, providing updates and insights into his progress.

Assessment and Evaluation:

• Conduct assessments to evaluate the adolescent’s current functioning and progress.

• Utilize evidence-based practices and tools to measure the effectiveness of interventions.

Research and Dissertation Contribution:

• Participate in research activities relevant to your dissertation, utilizing the practical experience gained during the internship.

• Collect data and analyze results as part of your research, under the guidance of the supervising psychologist.

Professional Development:

• Attend regular supervision and training sessions provided by the supervising psychologist.

• Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest research and best practices in clinical psychology, particularly in working with adolescents with ASD and OCD.

Ethical Practice:

• Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards in all interactions with the adolescent, his family, and other professionals.

• Ensure confidentiality and privacy are maintained in all records and communications.

Qualifications

• Male currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Clinical Psychology at an accredited university.

• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.

• Demonstrated interest in working with adolescents with ASD and OCD.

• Ability to commit to a schedule of 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

• Strong organizational and documentation skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a therapeutic team.

• Empathetic, patient, and able to build rapport with adolescents.

Experience

• 2 to 4 years of relevant experience (internships, research, or volunteer work can be considered).
