Position: Rehabilitation Officer
Line Manager: Project Manager
Type of Contract: Fixed-Term
Duration of the Contract: July -2024 to October-2025.
Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities & Context:
Strategy and Steering:
Conduct door-to-door visits to support the identification and data collection of persons with disabilities through weekly plans.
Ensure data entry and documentation align with donor’s standard operating procedures, data governance, and international standards.
Report on weekly or monthly achievements and issues as requested by the Project Manager.
Support the Project Manager in mapping existing health services in the area.
Ensure external referrals and follow-up by gathering feedback on services provided for documentation.
Manage reporting of the rehabilitation sector to the Project Manager, in coordination with volunteers.
Closely follow up on individual and familial cases to ensure timely follow-up for all beneficiaries.
Refer beneficiaries for specialized services when necessary.
Ensure proper documentation and reporting as required.
Ensure beneficiaries sign necessary documents when items or devices are provided.
Work closely with volunteers, ensuring quality service.
Perform other tasks as requested by line management and the technical unit.
Be caring, compassionate, and maintain good communication with beneficiaries at all times.
Demonstrate ethics and professional practice.
Respect beneficiaries’ confidentiality.
Respect and promote donor policies, and report any non-compliance to your line manager.
Report any incident or act causing harm to the beneficiary or others.
Always interact with children in the presence of their parents or caregivers.
Always ask for permission before applying any treatment or maneuver to someone.
Always respect a refusal of treatment.
Show abilities and competencies for efficient rehabilitation intervention.
Operational Implementation:
Responsibility 1: Provision of Physical and Functional Rehabilitation
Organize and provide rehabilitation services through “Outreach Rehabilitation Camps” in the host community.
Provide rehabilitation care to critical and high-priority cases following project guidelines.
Conduct emergency rehabilitation interventions.
Prescreen and prioritize for accurate assessment, planning, and provision of appropriate rehabilitation services to beneficiaries, including ongoing evaluation and reassessment within project constraints.
Develop appropriate rehabilitation plans, interventions, and treatments based on beneficiary assessments.
Ensure rehabilitation outcomes focus on achieving and maintaining optimal functioning in interaction with their environment, personal, and outcome factors.
Inform beneficiaries and caregivers about the importance of rehabilitation services for improving physical conditions and daily functions.
Offer rehabilitation services based on defined objectives between the beneficiary and caregiver.
Review recent information on beneficiary evolution before starting a treatment session and adapt treatment accordingly.
Ensure beneficiary safety during rehabilitation sessions, considering contraindications and precautions related to various illnesses, problems, and medical treatments.
Refer for medical advice if needed (DO NO HARM).
Advise and train beneficiaries and caregivers on basic exercises to prevent complications or disabling situations.
Provide guidance and support to volunteers in managing cases as needed.
Responsibility 2: Provision of Assistive Devices and Rehabilitation Equipment Management
Identify beneficiary needs (for critical and high-priority cases) in terms of assistive devices and mobility aids.
Ensure devices are adapted to user needs and provide clear explanations for safe use and maintenance.
Ensure proper follow-up on the use and weaning off of assistive devices.
Ensure the provision of assistive devices is made according to strategy (quality and quantity) and needs.
Supervise and support Rehabilitation Assistants in providing assistive devices and rehabilitation equipment.
Emergency Preparedness and Response:
Contribute to emergency preparedness initiatives, adapting work arrangements for effective humanitarian response.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform any other related activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation & Other Benefits
- Gross salary (monthly): BDT 53,125/-
- Phone bill allowance (monthly): As per Policy
- Travel allowance (monthly): Bill on actual
- Weekly 2 holidays.
