Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 03 years of relevant experience in leading and managing development project for vulnerable groups/communities at grassroots-levels.
  • Experience with livelihood and climate change adaptation projects for climate vulnerable and at-risk groups.
  • Having experience in climate-resilient and ecologically sustainable income opportunities.
  • Having extensive knowledge and skills in Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks of development organizations.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and sensitivity to support vulnerable and at-risk groups and communities.
  • Strong understanding of gender and diversity issues.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bangla.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency: i.e. MS Office, database management, coordination via email, project-specific management information systems, etc.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

Agrogoti Sangstha is a national NGO, working to empower local communities and institutions to ensure Climate Justice, Human Rights and Good Governance for all is inviting applications from qualified and committed professionals for immediate appointment for the development project entitled “Strengthening the Resilience and Adaptive Capacity of Vulnerable Groups and Empowering Civil Society in the Context of Climate Change in Bangladesh (SRIJAN)”. The main objective of the project is to ensure that “Marginalized and climate change-affected people in southern Bangladesh have built climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable livelihoods and local civil society is strengthened to protect and promote the rights of marginalized groups.” Furthermore, the SRIJAN project will provide comprehensive and personalized packages of service provision to the beneficiary of the project areas.

Project Manager (PM) will lead and manage project activities in Paikgacha and Koyra Upazila in Khulna district to ensure their overall sustainable reintegration of climate-affected/vulnerable and marginalized people by service provision and economic empowerment. The PM will develop a detailed project plan outlining goals, objectives, timelines, and deliverables based on contextual requirements. The PM is also expected to demonstrate ethical engagement and care with the beneficiaries, gender-sensitive methodologies of communication and guidance.

Job duration: July 2024 to December 2025 (18 months with the possibility to extension)

Responsibility:

  • Lead the project team and provide professional and technical support to project staff and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a detailed project plan outlining goals, objectives, timelines, and deliverables. Overall management of project implementation and activities based on the operational plan to achieve project target in time.
  • Maintain regular communication to ensure alignment of project objectives and expectations.
  • Manage project resources including budget, personnel, and materials. Ensure efficient allocation and utilization of resources throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor and manage risks to minimize impact on project outcomes.
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track progress against project goals. Collect and analyze data to assess project impact and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate training and capacity-building activities for vulnerable groups and civil society organizations. Enhance local capabilities to respond to climate change impacts and build resilience.
  • Advocate for policy changes and promote initiatives that support climate resilience and adaptation.
  • Foster partnerships with relevant stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for donors, stakeholders, and project partners. Maintain comprehensive project documentation and ensure adherence to reporting requirements.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices. Implement corrective actions as needed to achieve project objectives.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of project document and organizational regulations and implement it at his/her jurisdiction.
