Responsibilities & Context
Job Context:
- The Manager/AGM – Commercial (Import) is responsible for overseeing the import operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing vendor relationships, and optimizing the import process to support the company’s business objectives. This role requires strong knowledge of import regulations, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the import process, including sourcing, procurement, and logistics. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs procedures, and trade laws.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve the best pricing and quality.
- Adequate knowledge on HS. Code, Customs procedure and Bond formalities.
- Check Commercial invoice, packing list, details packing list, CO, BL for Import.
- Prepare monthly import plan in coordination with Finance, Sales department. Negotiate with supplier and take quotation through RFQ.
- Monitor and control expenses to ensure alignment with the budget.
- Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Maintain proper correspondents with suppliers, bankers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, C&F agents and so on.
- Stay updated on changes in trade laws, tariffs, and international trade agreements.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of import documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the import process. Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
- Implement best practices to ensure the security and integrity of imported goods.
