  • Good computer skill.

Responsibilities & Context

Uttaran is an NGO working in Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged community people. Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.

Supported by the SIDA PBA, Uttaran is implementing “Cyclone Remal Response in Bagerhat” project for selected southwestern coastal districts in Bagerhat District. Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Project Officer for this project.

To implement the project, Uttaran is seeking the following position for its project interventions area in Bagerhat districts.

Project Officer

The Project Officer is overall responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating a wide range of capacity development activities for the staff and targeted beneficiaries of project. S/he also responsible for capturing and documenting the project learning and sharing with the relevant stakeholders, agriculture, and livelihood beneficiaries. The project Officer is accountable for identifying skill and knowledge gap of the staff and project beneficiaries, developing required training materials, organizing and facilitating capacity building activities. The position will be based at Bagerhat and is reportable to the Project Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of knowledge and skill gap of project staff and target beneficiaries and development of capacity building plan for project staff and target beneficiaries.
  • Development of training materials on Climate Smart Agriculture/Regenerative Agriculture, efficient use of water in agriculture, governance in the Watershed committee and executive committee of Local Water Users Group based on identified knowledge and skill gap of project staff and targeted beneficiaries.
  • Development of capacity building plan for project staff and project beneficiaries and implementation of the plan through organizing and facilitating capacity building activities.
  • Develop and implement a system of evaluation of trainings and monitoring of capacity building and learning initiatives;
  • In coordination with programme staff, contribute to achieving set indicators of the result chain
  • Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to develop appropriate data collection system.
  • Review, evaluate, and modify training curricula available within the project or from other public-private sources where appropriate.
  • Identify technical expertise required, procure and seek inputs from Project implementation team as needed.
  • Maintain necessary liaison with the local, national and international knowledge institutes for exploring CSA/RA and agriculture use efficiency technologies.
  • Support field staff in designing demonstration and trial plots on the above-mentioned technologies, provide backstopping support and guidance to the field staff for establishing and monitoring the demo and trial plots.
  • Monitor the quality of training inputs and provide support as required. Monitor training costs, ensure costs are reasonable, allowable and within the budget.
  • Analyze performance feedback and results. Modify/improve training materials as required.
  • Document and disseminate the package of learning interventions and their outcomes.
  • Prepare the training report, capture learning and develop learning document.
  • Engage with the activities as would be assign by the supervisor

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • Salary & other benefits: 45,000/- BDT per month with all benefits
  • (Conveyance and food allowance will be given as per Uttaran Policy )
