  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, reporting requirements, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g. Tally).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English & Bengali.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications and project management tools.

Association For Alternative Development (AFAD) is looking for a suitable candidate for the following Position.

Project Name: Towards Greater Effectiveness and Timeliness in Humanitarian Emergency Response (ToGETHER) Project.

Types of Contract: Fixed Term

Duration: 33 Months (up to April 2027)

Start Date: 1st August 2024

Reporting to: Project Coordinator, ToGETHER Project.

Job Summary

AFAD is women-led non-governmental organization from norther Bangladesh. With the support of the Malteser International and German Federal Foreign Office, AFAD is implementing in a consortium the localisation program “ToGETHER – Towards Greater Effectiveness and Timeliness in Humanitarian Emergency Response”. The first phase of the program was successfully implemented for four years from March 2020 to April 2024 in Asia, Africa and Latin America and offered an opportunity to five local or national organisations in each of the eight participating countries to jointly develop and undertake capacity strengthening and exchange measures in order to reinforce their institutional and operational capacity to effectively respond to humanitarian crises. The second phase of the program (ToGETHER 2.0) starts on May 1, 2024, and will end on April 30, 2027. ToGETHER 2.0 also creates a space for establishing complementary partnerships and promoting local partners’ roles as leading local actors in humanitarian action.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance and Accounts Officer to support the financial management and reporting requirements of the ToGETHER 2.0 project. This role will play a crucial part in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, and supporting efficient resource allocation across multiple project sites.

Key Responsibilities include (Not limited to)

  • Financial Management: Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and expenditure tracking.
  • Accounts Management: Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and accounting systems in accordance with organizational policies and international accounting standards.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for donors, management, and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with donor requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Budget Monitoring: Monitor project budgets, analyze variances, and provide recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
  • Audit and Grant Management: Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records and transactions are properly documented and auditable.
  • Capacity Building: Provide financial guidance and training to project staff and partners on financial procedures and compliance issues.

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • BDT 50,000 per month with other admissible benefits such as mobile allowance, festival bonus on a pro rata basis, etc.
