Additional Requirements

  • Age at most 45 years
  • Minimum 10 years experience in handling compliance issues of Buyer: Inditex, preferably in a reputed group of company.
  • Ten years of experience in Compliance, legal, or related roles, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in Textile & RMG sector of Bangladesh Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Professional certifications in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional) are a must.

Responsibilities & Context

  • As the Deputy General Manager of Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our business operations adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. You will work closely with the senior leadership team, including the Managing Director and other department heads, to develop and execute compliance strategies that safeguard our business while fostering a culture of ethical behavior and responsibility.
  • Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with local, international, and industry-specific regulations related to labor, safety, environmental standards, and trade. Monitor changes in regulations and advise senior management on necessary adjustments to policies and practices.
  • Labor Standards Oversee adherence to labor laws and standards, including working hours, wages, benefits, and employee rights.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure fair and ethical treatment of workers, including addressing issues related to child labor and forced labor.
  • Factory Safety and Health Implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable practices, including waste disposal, energy efficiency, and pollution control.
  • Social Responsibility Develop and manage corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives that positively impact workers, local communities, and the environment.
  • Supplier Compliance Monitor and assess compliance of suppliers and subcontractors to ensure they meet ethical, labor, and environmental standards.
  • Auditing and Reporting Conduct regular internal audits to assess compliance with labor, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare detailed compliance reports for senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Training and Education Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and suppliers about compliance requirements and ethical practices.
  • Code of Conduct Develop and maintain a comprehensive code of conduct that outlines ethical and compliance expectations for the organization and its supply chain partners. Crisis Management Develop contingency plans and crisis management strategies to address compliance-related emergencies effectively.
  • Collaboration and Communication Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, sourcing, legal, Engineering and HR, to ensure compliance is integrated into all aspects of operations.
  • Vendor Assessments Evaluate and approve new suppliers based on compliance and ethical criteria before entering into business relationships. Remediation and Improvement Identify areas of non-compliance or improvement opportunities and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
  • External Engagement Engage with industry associations, certification bodies, and regulatory agencies to stay informed about best practices and emerging compliance trends. Continuous Learning Stay updated on evolving regulations, industry standards, and best practices in compliance within the RMG sector.
  • Team Leadership Lead and manage the compliance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
