- Technical knowledge of Community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and IYCF programming
- Experience and knowledge of team management
- Demonstrate ability to think and manage strategically, plan and meet deadlines
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal as well as Bangla
- Proficient knowledge of standard computer software if possible
Responsibilities & Context
Role Profile
Reporting to the Nutrition Coordinator, The Nutrition Technical Support Expert will oversee and be responsible for the technical performance of integrated nutrition facilities in Cox’s Bazar. He/she will oversight technical development and implementation of CMAM/CMAMI/OTP/TSFP/BSFP/IYCF-E/ECCD & PSS and outreach components of the program as well as ensuring a strict adherence to donor proposal and standard protocol. The Nutrition Expert will work closely with the Project Manager-Nutrition and nutrition staff at the field level. S/He will oversee all program staff at the Nutrition sites in the camp program for all technical aspects. S/He will also attend nutrition coordination meetings at the field, nutrition sector, govt., donor, and other stakeholder levels in relation to the program need.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Oversee the quality of CMAM/CMAMI/OTP/TSFP/BSFP/IYCF-E/ECCD & PSS/Outreach components at the camp through sets of checklists and frequent visits
- Ensure technical soundness and standards in the delivery of the nutrition services as prescribed in the project proposal including mainstreaming cross-cutting issues for example gender, PSEA, CP, inclusion, and accountability
- Support the Nutrition Coordinator in the development and adaption of nutrition program job aides and IEC materials
- Identify training and capacity building needs for frontline staff and lead in preparation for and/or facilitation of the sessions as needed
- Lead in planning for and utilizing training/capacity-building budget lines.
- Monitor and support supervision of the nutrition team in the camps to ensure that the project activities are on track
- Ensure frequent and quality monitoring visits in the project areas and share the monitoring report along with the improvement plan to the Nutrition Coordinator and field operation team
- Organize quarterly progress review meetings with the project team to evaluate the progress of the project and develop action plans
- Mentor and coach the nutrition team on the program protocol and provide supportive supervision through OJT on service components and the cross-cutting themes relevant to the project
- Work with the MEAL team on beneficiary databases, and reporting tools, for smooth service delivery
- Mentor and coach the nutrition team on the program protocol and provide supportive supervision on CMAM, BSFP, IYCF, ECCD & PSS, CMAMI, Care Groups, Male Engagement, and the cross-cutting themes relevant to the project. Support effective coordination and joint planning between all stakeholders in the camp towards achieving objectives, particularly ensuring strong linkages with IYCF activities
- Ensure that each member of the nutrition team fully understands the outcomes that are expected from them; supporting team members to work to the highest quality of standard possible
- Lead the piloting of WHO recommendations on waste management for the Rohingya response, as agreed and recommended by the Nutrition Sector
- Lead and support the nutrition team in implementing the scale-up plan of the ENIM system
- Represent GK in relevant camp-level coordination forums along with partners
Knowledge Management and Reporting:
- Support the Nutrition Coordinator to timely prepare and submit high-quality monthly, and quarterly reports and other ad-hoc reports, factsheets, and newsletters (quantitative and qualitative) as required
- Work in collaboration with MEAL and the documentation team to ensure documenting best practices and lessons learned by the implementing project
- Support and ensure that facility staff are maintaining standard tools/formats/documents as per agreement and project requirements
- Ensure that project learning including achievement and bottlenecks is shared with internal stakeholders upon management and donor review
- Review monitoring findings of the project regular basis and initiate necessary actions for the improvement of the program in consultation with GK management and donor agencies
Representation, Coordination, Communication and Advocacy:
- Participate in Nutrition Sector and Technical working group meetings on behalf of GK as and when needed
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and workshops for strengthening the linkage of the nutrition programs to other sectors at the field level and Cox’s Bazar level
- Maintain good coordination with both external and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of harmonized technical standards and guidelines from donors/NS.
- Provide input into GK and nutrition sector promotional, media, and communications materials on nutrition
Monitoring and Evaluation:·
- Monitor and support supervision of the nutrition team in the camps to ensure that the project activities are on track
- Ensure frequent and quality monitoring visits in the project areas and share the monitoring report along with the improvement plan with the Project Manager- Nutrition
- Organize quarterly progress review meetings with the project team to evaluate the progress of the project and develop action plans
Special Note:
- Carry out any additional assignment per her/his position entrusted with the GK Management from time to time and mutually agreed upon
- Management may, at any point in time, modify this job description as it is deemed necessary in Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s interests in consultation with the incumbent
- Due to the emergency response nature of GK’s work, hours of work may vary, and employees should be flexible in approaching hours of work in emergency conditions
- The employee must respect the timetable, terms, and conditions of Gonoshasthaya Kendra and should always be available to respond to an emergency
