Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree in any subject; preferably in Development Studies/Disaster Management/Environmental Science/Geography and Environment from a recognized University

Experience

  • At least 8 years

Additional Requirements

  • At least 8-year experiences in the development field along with 4-year experiences in project management.
  • Knowledge and experience on anticipatory action, early warning system, DRR and emergency response.
  • Demonstrate very strong leadership and management skills and ability to work in the team.
  • Sound knowledge of project cycle management
  • Excellent planning, analytical, organizational and decision-making skills
  • Good working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors and allies
  • Excellent communication skills including a high level of written and spoken English
  • Conversant in common IT applications (MS word, MS power point, MS excel, internet browsing & e-mail communications)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines

Responsibilities & Context

Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) <www.ypsa.org> is an organization for sustainable development working in the greater Chattogram division since 1985. YPSA is implementing a project on “People’s Adaptation Plans (PAPs) for Inclusive Climate Smart Cities” in Chattogram Division (Feni, Laksam & Mirsharai Upazila) in partnership with Save the Children. YPSA is inviting application from experienced professionals with proven track records for the following position for the Project.

Job Title: Project Coordinator

Job Location (Working Area): Chattogram Division (Feni, Laksam & Mirsharai Upazila)

Duration: 1st August 2024 to 31st May 2025

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate and manage the project through maintaining project cycle management for achieving project objective and expected results.
  • Develop project plan & budget and support to develop workshop/training/activity guidelines and reports
  • Maintain linkage with related GO, City Corporation, Disaster Management Committees, NGOs, civil society, donor and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate different training, meeting, workshop and orientations with different stakeholders
  • Support to form Steering committee and Advisory committee to ensure their active involvement in PAPs.
  • Guide to develop Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (CVRA) in targeted wards with the support of a technical partner.
  • Maintain coordination with city authorities, technical experts, and key stakeholders to validate CVRAs, climate risk profiling, GIS mapping, and community adaptation plans.
  • Facilitate to develop local level inclusive adaptation plan of selected informal settlements
  • Ensure the dissemination of endorsed copies of CVRA reports, PAPS and Community Adaption Plans to municipalities
  • Ensure timely and efficient implementation of all project activities.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of project activities to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Share best practices and learnings with practitioners, scientists and policymakers in different platforms
  • Provide direction and support to project team to ensure the standards of project activities
  • Ensure that the project activities comply with the policies and regulations of the donor and the organization
  • Supervise, monitor and evaluate the project, work and performance of staff and take concrete steps to improve job performance.
  • Maintain child and gender-sensitive approach in all stages and maintain safeguarding measures
  • Any other task assigned by the Management
