Responsibilities & Context
· Collect Equipment and Supplies and organize the departmental tasks.· Maintain infection control arrangements.· Maintain Safe and controlled environment.· Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.· Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills.· Properly cleaning and decontaminating surgical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods and solutions.· Ensuring that all instruments are free from any biohazardous materials before sterilization.· Operating and maintaining sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, plasma sterilizers, and other sterilization devices.· Properly loading and unloading sterilizers to ensure effective sterilization.· Monitoring and recording sterilization cycles and parameters to ensure compliance with standards and protocols.· Performing regular quality control checks on sterilized instruments and equipment.· Inspecting instruments for functionality and defects before and after sterilization.· Conducting biological and chemical indicator tests to verify the effectiveness of sterilization processes.· Maintaining accurate records of sterilized items and tracking instrument sets.· Managing inventory of sterile supplies and notifying supervisors of any shortages or discrepancies.· Ensuring proper storage conditions for sterilized items to maintain sterility.· Maintaining accurate and detailed records of sterilization processes, instrument maintenance, and quality control tests.· Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of sterilization equipment to ensure optimal performance.· Providing training and guidance to new CSSD staff and other healthcare personnel on sterilization techniques and protocols.
