Requirements

ESSENTIAL

Work Experience: 7 years of relevant experience including 3 years in a managerial/equivalent position related to communication, social media, article writing, material development, and writing in newspapers, governance and advocacy issues

Job related knowledge: Candidates having experience of working in economic grwoth, WASH, natural resources and DRR and social media communication will get preference. Detailed knowledge about GoB policies and administration structure in Bangladesh. The incumbent must have a decent understanding about latest social media tools and platforms. Work in CHT and Cox,s area will be an advantage.

Skills :

  • Work experience with Media, Proven experience in developing different materials i.e. IEC/BCC Materials, Manuals and modules, training materials;
  • Experience of working closely with government
  • Excellent experience of rapport building, networking and relationship building.
  • Working skill or relation with GoB, development partners, UN agencies, technical agencies and NGO officials will be considered as added value.
  • Good understanding of child rights, governance and advocacy
  • Computer skills are required with excellent verbal, oral and written communications skills in Bangla and English to translate complex things in user friendly and simple manner.
  • Proficiency in standard office software plus Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, online tools and platforms
  • Proficient in web design and graphic design.

Responsibilities & Context

ROLE PURPOSE:

The position will work as the focal point for developing Communications Strategy for HICRA in accordance with the programme priorities and initiating and managing relevant activities through maintaining functional linkages with relevant government departments, implementing partners and other stakeholders. The responsibilities also include development, publication and dissemination of project briefs, programme updates, annual reports, newsletters, day observance reports; publishing research reports and other communication materials as per the programme need. The incumbent will also lead and manage the public facing Suchana portal and website for the programme. He/she will initiate and take necessary steps to document the best practices, case studies and success stories that create impact for economic growth, wash and natural resources in the country. The position will take necessary steps to meet the capacity building needs of the implementing partners to strengthen overall documentation, communication. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing the inventory of the soft and hard copies of published documents and other materials like paper clippings, photographs, CD, VCD, and DVD of the programme. S/he will visit implementation sites as required. The post holder will play a major role in identifying key communication tasks following the HICRA communication plan.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

A-1 Communication, knowledge management, publication and external relation:

  • Responsible for implementation of communication strategy for HICRA in consultation with consortium partners;
  • Plan, develop, design, publish and disseminate project briefs, program updates, annual reports, newsletters, day observance reports, research reports and other materials as per the programme requirement;
  • Planning, scripting, technical oversight during video documentary development about programme intervention and service deliveries according to the guidelines of the donor, country specific regulations and organisational policy;
  • Collect information and prepare case study, success story based on program key areas of successes, good practices, lesson learnt and achievements for impact assessment and wide range of readers;
  • Plan and produce visual story book and do photography on key areas of programme beneficiaries and thematic interventions and provide relevant photo for communication materials, presentation and branding;
  • Collect information and prepare news story and article for different newsletters of HICRA, government agencies and other key forum and stakeholders, print and electronic media;
  • Provide technical and branding feedback in conceptualizing and designing of scripts for television commercial and theatrical production on thematic interventions;
  • Planning and coordinate with other staff member to prepare abstracts, collect relevant data/information and arrange for timely submission to national/international conference/workshop/seminar;
  • A-2 Coordinate plan, design and strengthen communication and documentation by partners
  • Technical and editorial review, design feedback to the communication materials under different programme interventions of partner organisations according to the quality and branding norms;
  • Provide technical assistance to the partners for producing their own case studies, success stories and good practices;
  • Assist and train partners to produce visual story book on HICRA beneficiaries and thematic interventions; generating idea and contents of apps/e-books/games targeting mobile based internet users;
  • Planning and coordinate with other partner organisation to prepare abstracts, collect relevant data/information and arrange for timely submission to international conference/workshop/seminar;
  • Training partner organisation focal person with technological know how to communicate diversified online communities with economic growth, wash and natural resources related programme for increasing visibility of the organisation in the WebSphere.
  • A-3 Social Media and Blogging
  • Planning and communicating different channels of social media, blog, micro-blog, video blog, social and podcast networks with studies, facts, data and information on malnutrition prevention;
  • Use formal and informal channels to share evidence-based findings from HICRA with senior level decision makers within targeted ministries. This requires sound understanding of lessons and evidence from project and what the key advocacy messages should be for policy makers
  • Research, analysis and write articles based on the findings and responses in the web contents, blog and web communication of the programme and publish in newspapers and international journals;
  • Planning and implementing social media campaign for developing awareness about economic growth, wash and natural resources prevention through diversified online communities in Bangladesh as per the work plan focusing the beneficiaries;
  • Orientation and advocacy with bloggers/social media users/online communities for the awareness of key program areas.
  • Training and orientation to key affected population about blogging and citizen journalism for revealing self-stories, facts and findings;
  • Monitor internet and social media for important news link and web resources on economic growth, WASH, natural resources and DRR research and events happening around the world and analysis the significance to share within the team.
  • A-4 Documentation and reporting:
  • Responsible to contribute to donor report in quarterly basis
  • Will work closely with consortium partners and MEAL team for documentation.
  • General
