Requirements

Education

  • At least bachelor’s degree in Theatre or Social Sciences, or relevant subject

Additional Requirements

Experience

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in theatre activities. in similar position with International or national NGO is given preference.

Required Competencies

  • Good in communication, interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Skills in community engagement and mobilization
  • Knowledge of MS office, websites, outlook etc.
  • Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local culture.
  • Script development
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work effectively across a wide variety of cultural contexts.
  • Ability to work in a difficult and stressful environment, and to manage/deal with rapid changes to the operating environment.
  • Competence with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency on local language can be an added value.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good Computer literacy.
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with stressful situations. 

Responsibilities & Context

Project: Nurturing Youth Volunteers and Green Skills Development in Camps, funded by WFP

Department: Humanitarian Response

Location of posting: Cox’s Bazar.

Types of contracts: Fixed term contract

Duration of Contract: Up to 31 January 2025 (If not extended).

Project Overview:

The incumbent will be responsible for hosting interactive shows in camps and for the documentation of interactive activities in the Rohingya camp. The designated person will be responsible for forming groups of adolescents (15–24 years old), facilitating their efforts to build self-esteem by encouraging good practices, and creating a friendly environment for them. Also, coordination and communication must be ensured among the team and the relevant sector.

Key responsibilities include (not limited to) :

Leading Interactive Theatre activities

  • Taking lead to ensure effective theatre performance through theatre group formation, development of stories/script, and organizing rehearsals and organized shows in the five camps.
  • Support project team to arrange events in the community.
  • Assist project team to find out in an effective theatre delivery method.
  • Assist in monitoring the budget support so the expenditures stay within budgetary guidelines as per the event plan.
  • Ensures equipment is used in a safe manner.
  • Inventories and requisitions supply and equipment; recommends the purchase of new equipment.
  • Reports to the line manager on a regular basis to give an update on artistic activity and the impact of interactive theatre in camp.
  • Any assigned task by the line manager.

Reporting and documentation and coordination

  • Ensure programme reporting and documentation.
  • Responsible for maintaining good communication with CiCs and assist team while getting approval for conduction of theatre activities.        

Relationships

The person holds this position will be directly reportable to Project Coordinator of Project.

Compensation & Other Benefits

Monthly Gross Salary BDT. 59,022 with other admissible benefits such as mobile & internet allowance, medical benefit, group life insurance etc as per the Project Budget.
