Responsibilities & Context

Company Background:

The British Business Group (BBG) Bangladesh is a body that serves to promote British business interests in Bangladesh. Membership is open to British firms who have a presence in the country. Some of these companies have been operating in Bangladesh before or since independence while others are recent arrivals. The BBG aims to promote the benefits of trade between the UK and Bangladesh and its contribution to Bangladesh’s future development.

The BBG encourages the development of British business in Bangladesh through a range of activities and services for its members, including dialogue with key decision-makers in the Government of Bangladesh, other trade organisations and multilateral bodies.

The BBG is run by a Board of Trustees comprising senior British business leaders and the British High Commission. The Board set the direction and priorities for the BBG annually. The BBG is currently looking for an ambitious individual to assume the role of British Business Group Manager to carry out its functions. The role will report directly to the Board.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as Board Secretary and prepare papers for Board meetings
  • Provide support to the Board in preparing the BBG’s strategic plans
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government representatives
  • Provide advice to the Chair and Board on the application of the Bylaws
  • Undertake desk-based market research as required by members and stakeholders
  • Act as the focal point and providing management support for BBG members
  • Contact potential new members, arranging membership formalities, and maintain up-to-date membership records.
  • Develop & deliver the activity calendar.
  • Organise events with both internal and external attendees.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts
  • Update and maintain the BBG website and social media accounts
  • Communicate to members, e.g. newsletter and letters from the Chair / Board
  • Work closely with the British High Commission (BHC) in support of joint trade interests
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board.
