Purpose of the Job

  • Purpose: The Director – Operations will provide overall leadership and direction to Marie Stopes Bangladesh’s (MSB) Maternity and Clinic Channel towards sustainability. He/She will be responsible for driving MSB’s clinics and maternities to increase the uptake of MSB’s product basket and core services. The Director – Operations will provide overall leadership, guidance, technical support, and capacity building to the clinic channel, focusing on maximizing the productivity and cost-optimization and ensure revenue and surplus target. He/She shall be responsible to maintain enterprise-wide compliance with clinical and service requirements and national regulations. The Director – Operations will direct all operational and strategic activities to ensure effective implementation, continuous improvement and strengthening of MSB’s clinics. The Director – Operations required to develop a motivated and productive team capable of implementing Business Plan as well as MSI’s 2030 strategy Scaling Up Excellence and will play a strategic, forward-looking role in establishing MSB’s future clinic direction, with particular focus on driving sustainable impact.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Report to the Country Director and work with Operations Team Managers to drive the commercial performance of MSB’s clinical operations against agreed business plans, instilling a culture of business mindset, transformation, and continuous improvement to deliver sustainability of Clinic Channel and surplus generation.
  • Drive and monitor improvements in Clinic channel performance against key performance indicators and implement marketing strategies.
  • Ensure Maternity Hospitals and Clinics/ Centers’ sustainability is constantly improved in line with MSB’s strategic priorities by ensuring revenue, optimizing cost, and enhancing service income through continuous value addition.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance Management team to ensure the medical protocol and quality compliance in line with MSI guidelines.
  • Regularly analyze clinic performance against goals, develop specific actions for business growth, and ensure consistent execution across all clinics.
  • Identify growth opportunities for clinics, develop action plans, and integrate learnings into the channel.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to establish clear financial reporting processes and monitor resources at Clinic Channel.
  • Encourage a culture of passion and commitment to drive excellent client experiences in maternities and clinics and a focus on sustainability and business growth.
  • Ensure appropriate risk and contingency plans are in place across operations to anticipate risk and outline appropriate action to be taken to minimize the impact. Provide regular feedback to Country Director and SMT as required.
  • Regularly review internal and external benchmark data, quality management data, and risk management data to prioritize clinical improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor performance and mentor the Operations Managers to ensure services are provided in a timely, cost-effective and high-quality manner and at the appropriate level of care.
  • Ensure that anti-fraud, bribery, and corruption training is conducted with all maternities and Clinic staff and MSB’s zero tolerance policy is strictly enforced.
  • Oversee project leads to ensure that donor requirements are met, and the project is implemented to an excellent standard.
