Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Population Science or Social Science, Health communications, Behavioral science or relevant subject.

Experience

  • At least 3 years

Additional Requirements

  • Experiences in SRH program especially family planning MR and PAC services.
  • Experience in working with community mobilization for SRH program.
  • Understanding and experiences about public health systems of Bangladesh especially in-depth understanding about urban health service delivery mechanism is essential.
  • Computer skill: proficiency in MS Office and data management
  • Good professional writing skills in English and Bangla
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in implementing, and evaluating SBC interventions, including a focus on youth
  • Working Experience with community health workers to promote MR, PAC, FP, and awareness on SGBV
  • Substantial program implementation experience in reproductive health specially on Menstrual Regulation, Post-abortion Care including Family Planning.
  • Previous experience of working with different stakeholders at community level, motivate and develop others.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel in the field up to 70%

Responsibilities & Context

A national level NGO is inviting applications for potential candidates to apply for following positions:

Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) Officer,

(1 Positions – Female only).

Context:

The project is to improve availability and access of quality SRHR services particularly family planning, MR and Post-abortion care (PAC) services for poor and ultra-poor women and adolescents living urban areas of greater Dhaka. The project will also work to reduce SGBV by creating awareness among city dwellers. To ensure uninterrupted SRHR services during any public health emergency including COVID-19 pandemic, the project will also work for emergency preparedness and responses. The project will be implemented from now till September 2025 in collaborate with city corporations’ health authorities and their health programs, DGFP and DGHS, BGMEA and other stakeholders and partners.

SBCC Officer for ISRHR in Dhaka project is responsible to work with youths in slum, General Practitioner (GP) to develop a comprehensive demand generation of MR, PAC, FP, and awareness on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV). S/he will conduct capacity building activities for community youth leaders to increase their skills to create awareness on MR, PAC, FP, and SGBV to implement demand creation programming among key populations. Organize networking meeting with GP and youth leaders to ensure community support to access MR and contraceptive services from GP’s service delivery points.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation of SBC activities of the project as per work plan.
  • Assist in conducting formative research on end users for the development of the targeted SBC programming under the guidance of partner provides support for pre-testing, and producing communication tools and job aids based on evidence-based theories and methodologies, in line with the SBC strategy
  • Develop and implement plan for observation of relevant special days, including World Population Day, in selected garment factories and slums.
  • Provides support to utilize social media, such as Facebook, to develop network of SRHR adolescent and youth champions for community mobilization
  • Provides support for creating and empowering Community Action Group (CAG) for SRHR, consisting of champions and their peers, to identify MR, PAC, and contraceptive service needs.
  • Organize promotional events in front of PPs Chamber to promote General Practitioner’s chamber as a point for MRM and FP services.
  • Conduct orientation sessions on photo voice and case study for the CAG members to capture CAG members experience with promotion of MR, PAC, FP and SGBV.
  • Organize media event on Photo Voice in the community.
  • Organize meetings & communication activities such as workshops, focus groups seminars, and review meetings with youths and local community groups and GP’s
  • Participate in all partners and other stakeholder’s meetings as and when necessary.
  • Responsible for program monitoring through community visits and take prompt, necessary actions to solve problem and overcome challenges
  • Perform other project related responsibilities assigned by the management.
