Requirements

Education
University degree in psychology, educational psychology, counselling psychology, school psychology, industrial psychology, social work, social studies or other related discipline

  • Basic IT knowledge (Microsoft Office, Internet, Excel).
  • Knowledge of child protection minimum standards, Excellent facilitation skills, and Previous experience in Structured PSS activities is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in working with youth target groups is of benefit.
  • Fluency in Chittagong dialect is a must.
  • Good mastery of Bangla and English is desirable.
  • Have good collaboration with block majhis and local community representatives.
  • Leadership skills and a good image in the community.
  • Ability to identify beneficiaries who need support.

Responsibilities & Context

Tdh’s Child Protection (CP) program consists of three main components: Psychosocial Support (PSS) to children, adolescents and caregivers; Case Management, including Alternative Care and Caring for Child Survivors, and Support to Community-based CP mechanisms. To protect and promote the psychosocial wellbeing of adolescent boys and girls and young men and women through community-based approaches implemented at individual, family and community levels. The MHPSS compoennt is based on Tdh innovative YouCreate methodology, Sports for Protection methodology, Mens and Boys Engagement activities, evidence-based prevention program Girl Shine to support, protect, empower adolescent girls and the tailored Structured PSS Curriculum Khushir Khorak for Cox’s Bazar context to improve wellbeing of children and adolescent by Tdh Bangladesh. This strategies applicable for group children, adolescents and adults who are having different psychosocaial and adjustment issuesdue to migration.The project is to protect and promote the psychosocial wellbeing of adolescent boys and girls and young men and women through community-based approaches implemented at individual, family and community levels between host and refugee community population.

  • Under the guidance of the Project Manager, and direct supervised by PSS Officer, PSS Assistant provides structured, age, gender and needs-appropriate PSS activities and community based activities for children, adolescents and caregivers with the support of PSS Technical Specialist.
  • Facilitate/Implement static/mobile PSS activities including Structured PSS Curriculum Khushir Khorak, Youcreate art action research, Mens and Boys Engagement, Girl Shine and Sports for Protection with children and youth for well-being and building resiliency.
  • Conduct outreach to identify most vulnerable children (with a focus on inclusion of children with disabilities) and their caregivers and encourage their participation in PSS activities.
  • Contribute to needs assessment, including child-led safety mapping and community consultations.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly work-plans with clear objectives setting short-term, miud-term and long-term targets priorities.
  • Document registration, consent, referrals and attendance in Tdh’s databases and Record keeping with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as per project target.
  • Ensure regular communication with the line manager on activities’ updates, achievements and provide daily, weekly and monthly activity updates.
  • Collection of project materials from Tdh officers, distribute during activities, and restore in safe place after activities.
  • Facilitate internal and external referrals of childre in need of additional support, care or protection.
  • Plan needed PSS supplies, maintenance needs and ensure materials are securely stored.
  • Conduct participatory MEAL activities to collect beneficiaries’ feedback and opinions on the quality and satisfaction with the activities and ensure this feedback informs implementation.
  • Provide effective supervision, mentorship, coaching and guidance to PSS volunteers, community volunteers, security guards and other volunteers.
