Job Summary:

Bangladesh Specialized Hospital is seeking an experienced Medical Officer – Infection Control to join our healthcare team. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive infection control programs. This position focuses on minimizing infection risks within the hospital environment, ensuring the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The role requires in-depth knowledge of infection control protocols, public health principles, and collaboration with medical and nursing teams to implement effective infection prevention strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and update infection control policies and procedures to meet hospital standards and public health regulations.
Conduct routine infection surveillance, data collection, and analysis to identify trends and risks.
Provide ongoing training and education to healthcare staff on infection prevention practices.
Ensure hospital-wide compliance with infection control standards and protocols.
Investigate and manage infection outbreaks within the hospital, collaborating with relevant departments.
Work closely with medical, nursing, and administrative teams to identify and reduce infection risks in all areas.
Prepare detailed reports on infection control activities and outcomes for hospital administration.
Participate in the design and implementation of infection control strategies, ensuring alignment with the latest public health guidelines.
Perform risk assessments and recommend improvements to minimize infection transmission.
Collaborate with public health authorities on matters related to infection control, including reporting and outbreak response.
Oversee the sterilization, disinfection, and proper handling of medical instruments and hospital facilities.
Disassembling, Decontaminating, inspecting, and reassembling surgical/medical instruments in accordance with established procedures
Tracks and reports work-related infectious diseases to the infection control committee.
Ensure mock surveys are done quarterly in the hospital.
Ensure proper usage and monitoring of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect staff and patients.
Advise on hospital layout and design improvements to reduce infection risks.
Develop and oversee hand hygiene and other infection prevention programs across departments.
Coordinate with the Infection Prevention and Control Committee to determine the direction of surveillance activities and actively evaluate effectiveness of the Infection Prevention and Control Plan annually.
Monitor antibiotic usage within the hospital to prevent resistance and promote antimicrobial stewardship.
Provide expert guidance on the care and management of infectious patients, ensuring adherence to isolation protocols.
Actively participate in hospital committees focused on infection control, patient safety, and quality improvement.
Develop and implement continuously improved patient care procedures and control mechanisms relating to quality, compliance and infectious diseases.
Stay updated on current infection control guidelines, public health research, and emerging infectious diseases.
Foster a culture of safety, prevention, and compliance within the hospital environment.
Organize Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings and maintain all meeting minutes.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
