Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Agricultural Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Urban & Rural Planning or a related discipline.

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of proven experience in livelihood programming, preferably in a development or nonprofit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of livelihood strategies, income generation, and community development approaches.
  • Familiarity with livelihood frameworks in disaster context.
  • Proficiency in project management, including planning, coordination, and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex concepts effectively.
  • Professional Experience:
  • Experience in designing and implementing livelihood interventions in rural or vulnerable communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct needs assessments, market analysis, and imparting training
  • Experience on graduation approach of livelihood.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, reporting, and monitoring.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Working with person with disabilities will be added advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desirable:
  • Certification or additional training in livelihood programming, economic development, or DRR.
  • Familiarity with value chain development, , market linkages and VSLA’s loan management.
  • Understanding of donor requirements and reporting frameworks.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software for project management and reporting.
  • Computer Proficiency:
  • Excellent command of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and other relevant software.
  • Have outstanding skills and expertise in communicating via email and internet.

Name of the Project: Establishing disaster-resilient communities in Satkhira (EDRCS)

Position: Livelihood Officer

Job Location: Shyamnagar, Satkhira

Nature of job: Contractual, up to March 2026

Reporting to: Project Coordinator

Core Purpose

The core purpose of hiring the position titled “Livelihood Officer” is to design, implement, and oversee livelihood interventions for person with disabilities within the EDRCS project under the funding cooperation of CBM Global. This role focuses on enhancing the economic resilience of women and person with disabilities in Satkhira by promoting climate resilient livelihood strategies, skills development, and income-generating activities. The Livelihood Officer is responsible for exploring livelihood opportunities for person with disabilities, providing inclusive training, on- site support, market and government linkages for improving economic status of the participants followed the CBM livelihood framework. S/he will collaborate with project partners, local Govt. and market actors , and the CBM Global Bangladesh country office to ensure the successful implementation of inclusive livelihood activities that contribute to disaster resilience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Livelihood Program Development and Implementation:
  • Design and implement livelihood strategies that align with the project’s goals and objectives.
  • Identify and assess livelihood opportunities of person with disabilities and at-risk members of the target communities, focusing on climate-resilient practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and capacity of community members in income-generating activities and graduation approach.
  • Assist person with disabilities to develop their business plan and provide support to implement accordingly
  • Facilitate the establishment of community-based enterprises and support market linkages.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Monitor the progress of livelihood activities in line with business plan and project targets .
  • Conduct regular field visits and conduct meeting with VSLA groups and provide mentoring and technical support for their livelihood interventions.
  • Conduct post distribution of cash for livelihood and track the use of livelihood grant as well as loan of VSLA
  • Collect and analyze data to inform programmatic decision-making and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Community Engagement and Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Engage with community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to ensure their participation in livelihood activities.
  • Facilitate inclusive feedback mechanisms to promote community ownership and sustainability.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with project participants, partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare regular reports on the progress and outcomes of livelihood activities, including success stories and lessons learned.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of livelihood interventions, including livelihood plans, training materials, and beneficiary records.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports and deliverables to the Project Coordinator and funding agencies.
  • Capacity Building:
  • Provide training and capacity-building support to project staff and partners on livelihood approaches and methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of learning and innovation within the project team to continuously improve livelihood programming.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Ensure that livelihood activities comply with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, including data verification and validation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance processes related to livelihood activities.
  • Other Tasks:
  • Maintain a gender-sensitive approach in all stages of the livelihood interventions.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
