Requirements

Education

  • A Master’s degree in a health or nutrition-related field is required. However, a professional degree in nursing or midwifery from a government-recognized institution will be an advantage.

Required Education and Experience:

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in the NGO health sector or clinical settings, specifically in RMNCAH-related program implementation and support. Educational qualification is flexible for highly experienced candidates.
  • Strong knowledge of RMNCAH-related government programs and community health facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Bengali, with the ability to write and interpret reports.

Contacts and Key Relationships:

  • The RMNCAH Specialist will report directly to the Project Coordinator and will work closely with the field teams, organizational project management, and the Concern Worldwide team.
  • Regular interaction with the government health and family planning representatives, division, district, and sub-district level health and family planning officials, Community Clinic, and Union Health and Family Welfare Centre (UH&FWC) representatives, and other local stakeholders is expected.

Responsibilities & Context

Position Overview: AVAS is implementing the “Partnerships for Improved Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) in Coastal Bangladesh” project, funded by Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) and supported by Concern Worldwide. This initiative aims to improve RMNCAH services in the coastal regions of Bangladesh, particularly in Galachipa sub-district, Patuakhali district. The project duration is up to December 2026. AVAS is seeking a competent and motivated RMNCAH Specialist to support the implementation of of the project focusing on RMNCAH technical interventions in collaboration with the Project Coordinator ensuring that the activities are carried out in alignment with the project’s goals and objectives.

The RMNCAH Specialist is primarily responsible for the implementation of key RMNCAH technical program activities at the field level. This position focuses on ensuring the achievement of program goals, sharing the capacity of project and government staff, and maintaining day-to-day coordination with health professionals at the sub-district and union levels. The RMNCAH Specialist will also oversee health-related assessments, training plans, and curriculum development, ensuring comprehensive support to health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1.    Program Implementation and Coordination:
  • Support the delivery of community health services by ensuring all RMNCAH-related activities are aligned with program goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the planning and follow-up of annual health programs, contributing to improved community health outcomes.
  • 2.    Capacity Building:
  • Provide training and technical support to health professionals, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver RMNCAH services effectively.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions for staff and health personnel.
  • 3.    Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain relationships with local health facilities, including Community Clinics, Upazila Health Complexes, and health centers.
  • Advocate for improved health services with local government officials and health professionals, ensuring ongoing collaboration and support.
  • 4.    Monitoring and Supervision:
  • Spend 80% in the field to ensure efficient management of community health services, regularly monitoring service delivery and referral mechanisms.
  • Conduct field visits to assess program progress and provide feedback for improvement.
  • 5.    Advocacy and Liaison:
  • Maintain regular communication with health professionals, government officials, and other stakeholders to address challenges and promote the program’s goals.
  • Present program findings and recommendations to improve RMNCAH service delivery in the target area.
  • 6.    Report and Documentation:
  • Prepare reports on program activities, workshops, and training sessions, sharing progress and insights with stakeholders and donors.
  • Ensure timely documentation of program impacts, success stories, and lessons learned.
  • 7.    Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
