Additional Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year work experience in qualitative data (KII, IDI, FGD and PAR) collection and verbatim transcription is required.
  • Data Collection must have their own Laptop for collecting & analysis data information easily.
  • Excellent management and teamwork skills; ability to successfully complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in Bangla required along with Bangla typing skill.
  • Highly motivated, strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willing to travel any of the selected field areas at short notice.
  • Experience working on climate resilience, SRHR, and with women and in char, haor and slum areas is preferred.

Responsibilities & Context

About Naripokkho:

Naripokkho is a membership-based women’s activist organization in Bangladesh working since 1983 for the advancement of women’s rights and entitlements and building resistance against violence, discrimination, and injustice. Naripokkho is conducting multifaceted programs aimed at ensuring women’s health and reproductive rights. Naripokkho’s work is focused on the following six interrelated thematic areas- equality and the political empowerment of women, violence against women and women’s human rights, women’s health and reproductive rights, gender issues in environment and development, cultural politics and representation of women and communal harmony.

Purpose: Naripokkho is looking to hire nine full-time Research Assistants to collect and transcribe qualitative data on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Climate change.

Project Objective: The objective of this research is to understand how women’s experiences with climate change impact their reproductive health decision-making, behavior, and outcomes in char, haor and slum areas in Bangladesh.

Posts: Data collectors/Research Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in training for qualitative data collection and transcription.

  • Collect data in Sirajganj’s char area, Kishoreganj’s haor area, and Dhaka’s urban slums using qualitative and participatory tools such as In-depth Interviews (IDIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and Community Dialogue Meetings (CDMs).
  • Communicate with participants, schedule, and arrange interviews, discussions, and meetings based on defined criteria.
  • Complete consent forms in accordance with ethical guidelines.
  • Take detailed notes during interviews, discussions, and meetings.
  • Prepare summaries for each interview, discussion, and meeting.
  • Transcribe the collected data verbatim using Avro/Bijoy format.
  • Provide additional research assistance as needed.

Job location: Dhaka but field travel (80%) during data collection is required. (Baradhul Char at Belkuchi Upazila of Sirajganj District, Nikli Haor of Kishoreganj District & Slum area of Dhaka City where climate affected people take refuge
