- At least 3 years’ experience in engineering and construction work.
- Minimum 1-2 year experience in shelter and WASH projects in Rohingya camps context including implementation of shelter projects by external contractors, including quality checking;
- Construction skills and experience (with bamboo materials is a plus)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
- Previous experience in conducting field assessments;
- Excellent communication and representation skills;
- Adaptability and ability to re-prioritize according to the changing context;
- Able to work effectively and creatively within a team;
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
Responsibilities & Context
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for the monitoring of the infrastructure (Shelter & WASH) built by Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) team or delegated to contractors. The candidate will be in charge of supervising, evaluating and reporting on all construction activities implemented by HFHB in the camps and host communities in Ukhiya and Teknaf. Depending on the specific field location and context this may include construction of permanent or semi-permanent facilities, emergency and non-emergency shelters, distributions of shelter kits and support to targeted beneficiaries with shelter construction, as well as ensuring camp layouts and site planning are respected as necessary.
