Additional Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in sustainability or environmental management, preferably within the garment or textile industry.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability standards (ISO 14001, Higg Index, etc.), and best practices in sustainable manufacturing.
- Experience with environmental audits and data analysis related to energy, water, and waste management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and present sustainability initiatives effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for sustainability reporting and data analysis.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to sustainability challenges.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Responsibilities & Context
- Sustainability Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing environmental sustainability strategies that minimize the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes.
- Compliance & Regulation: Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, standards, and certifications relevant to the textile and apparel industry (e.g., ISO 14001, Higg Index, ZDHC).
- Energy & Resource Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce water consumption, and minimize waste within the manufacturing process.
- Environmental Audits: Conduct regular environmental audits and assessments of the company’s facilities to ensure adherence to sustainability targets and compliance standards.
- Sustainable Supply Chain: Collaborate with suppliers to integrate sustainable materials, processes, and practices into the supply chain.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed reports on environmental performance, sustainability KPIs, and improvement projects for internal and external stakeholders.
- Training & Awareness: Develop training programs and initiatives to raise awareness of sustainability issues among employees, partners, and suppliers.
- Innovation & Research: Keep abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in environmental sustainability, and propose their application within the company.
- Waste Management: Oversee waste management practices, including recycling programs, and explore circular economy initiatives within the garment production cycle.
- Sustainability Certifications: Support the achievement and maintenance of sustainability-related certifications and standards for the company.
