Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with government and a broad range of public & private sector and relevant other stakeholders especially in energy sector.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and to set priorities.
Good English writing, analytical, communication, facilitation and knowledge sharing skills.
Good ability to work with a virtual cross-functional team.
Excellent knowledge in MS Office, Outlook, and other software.
He/she should have experience on report preparation, documentation, and PowerPoint presentation.
Willing and able to travel independently outside station.

Responsibilities & Context

Practical Action recently awarded funding in the form of a grant from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland acting through Department for International Development (DFID). Subsequently replaced for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), to carry out and oversee the Project titled “Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Clean Cooking Research Study” and which is subject to the accountable grant agreement between FCDO and Loughborough University.

In seeking to spark a new approach to clean cooking, the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme researches the socio-economic realities of a transition from polluting fuels to a range of modern fuels.

Based in Cox-Bazar, the Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating project interventions in collaboration with the Volunteers and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The Project Officer will lead the field implementation of projects on understanding current cooking practice and other higher tier cooking technologies approaches.

S/he has to assist in conducting door to door survey/assessments of E-cooking technologies market system to measure changes in cooking practices, energy use, and related socioeconomic indicators in host community in cox-bazar.
S/he will develop detailed plans for volunteer-led activities and ensure alignment with the overall project timeline and objectives.
S/he will work with volunteers to engage with community members, identify households for participation in the study, and address any concerns or feedback.
S/he will support to conduct surveys through KOBO software as part of the research study.
S/he will conduct initial data analysis to identify trends, insights, and areas requiring further investigation.
S/he will organize and assist to facilitate field level inception, campaign, and training sessions for participants on E-Cooking appliance usage and maintenance.
S/he has to coordinate with E-Cooking business agencies, partner organization, sector actors of clean cooking, and relevant other stakeholders in regular basis.
S/he has to promote and explore opportunities of Gender respect in the E-Coking market.
S/he will provide critical inputs and opinions to the senior management in determining the strategic positioning and work plan of the organization in that region.
S/he will prepare reports of ongoing field level activities with appropriate information in line with the reporting requirement of the project.
S/he will assist in understanding the E-cooking business environment, identify challenges and barriers faced by actors, and taking actions in the field following prescribed possible solutions to expand E-cooking market and reaching targeted results.
S/he will actively maintain detailed records of activities, volunteer participation, and field observations, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and well-organized.
S/he will oversee the day-to-day operations and administrative support of the office, ensuring a smooth and efficient work environment.
Endorse and practice all the policies of Practical Action and ensure the implementation of project interventions following standards and complying with all the relevant policies.
