Job Purpose

Support the National TB Control Programme (NTP) to improve the performance of NTP-designated laboratories across government and NGO sites nationwide. This includes monitoring, supervising, and taking necessary actions to implement national laboratory guidelines and maintain laboratory equipment in coordination with the NTP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the NTP to prioritize the integration of microscopy laboratories with molecular diagnostic services (GeneXpert/Truenat) and optimal use of molecular testing throughout the country.
  • Strengthen government health system and make functional of TB laboratories.
  • Support the NTP in expanding the TB Diagnostic Network at the peripheral level to enhance the availability of rapid molecular diagnostic services.
  • Contribute to the development of the national strategy for TB laboratory services, including guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), implementation plans, reporting formats, and training manuals.
  • Ensure forecasting, quantification and supply chain of Laboratory reagent and other logistics/equipment’s.
  • Identify training needs and build the capacity of lab staff by organizing training sessions and orientations.
  • Ensure proper troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory equipment in consultation with the NTP.
  • Conduct regular supervision and monitoring of laboratory interventions nationwide, identifying challenges and opportunities in coordination with the NTP, and assisting in adjusting strategies and implementations as needed.
  • Assist in developing project proposals, funding requests, and other related documents.
  • Ensure proper recording and recording at field offices and health facilities. Assist the NTP, Global Fund, LFA, WHO, and other donors and technical partners with implementation, data verification, and reporting.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so
