Responsibilities & Context

Jagrata Juba Shangha (JJS), having 38 years of experience as a rights-based environmental and social development organization actively dealing with pro-poor issues, climate change and disaster-vulnerable people in the South West coastal region of Bangladesh. JJS has been working diligently to improve the lives of vulnerable people in coastal communities through its interventions in Human People’s Rights, Climate Change and Disaster Management, Environmental protection & and nature-based solutions, Food Sovereignty, Health, Nutrition and WASH fields.

JJS decided to implement the Strengthening children’s voice and leadership in addressing climate change and disaster risk in Bangladesh project in the South West Coastal Region of Bangladesh. To reduce children’s vulnerability to climate impacts, promote children’s participation and leadership in planning and implementation processes. The project will be implemented in 10 upozilas of three districts of Bagerhat, Khulna and Satkhira the most climatically vulnerable districts in the southwestern coastal region of Bangladesh.

To implement the project JJS like to recruit suitable female person for this position.

Project: Strengthening children’s voice and leadership in addressing climate change and disaster risk in Bangladesh with support from KNH.

Working Station: Khulna city, Batiaghata and Rupsha upazila (but transferrable in any working area)

Major Role & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field-level sessions/training for capacity building of children and youth on climate change issues.
  • Facilitate school and community level children’s group development activities.
  • Organize upozila level events.
  • Assist other program personnel in planning, organize and coordinate various training for youth, and community leaders
  • Establish and strengthen the central level coastal children forum on climate change and DRR actions.
  • Arrange required logistics for community-level training.
  • Support in data collection and documentation of progress, success stories, and assist in the report writing process.
  • Keep a proper record of the training activities as per project/program requirements.
  • Facilitate and monitor the implementation of planned activities, mobilize slums communities and community-level engagements in the project.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly work plans and progress reports and submitting it to the project manager and monitoring and documentation officers.
  • Perform any other relevant activities as per management.
