• Minimum 8-10 years of professional experience in field level activities in NGOs with 5 years’ experience governance and nutrition projects/programs.

• Strong knowledge and experience in facilitation skills.

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree.

• Well conversant with the multi-sectoral governance, nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive intervention, climate smart and nutrition value chain agriculture, and ICT based information portal.

• Have experience in understanding on Governance and social accountability tools.

• Experience of working with communities in participatory approaches.

• Good networking and liaison skills with local level government departments, nutrition and governance platforms and private sector in nutrition specific and sensitive service delivery.

Responsibilities & Context

• Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples’ centered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 331 upazilas under 54 districts of Bangladesh covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.

• As partnership with Plan International Bangladesh, ESDO is implementing the “Enhancing adolescent well-being through the improvement of WASH facilities and knowledge on health, and nutrition for inclusive quality education system” in Secondary School in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari District. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.

The FO is responsible for facilitating the CSG/SMC in active engagement in support nutrition action plan and will mobilize Community Support Groups/ School Management Committee to actively meet on a monthly schedule, to discuss successes and challenges, and to make pragmatic nutrition action plans moving forward.

The project Field Officer, working with GoB supervisors, teachers and staff, will continue supporting these groups to effectively conduct social mapping, and assist in the implementation of the nutrition action plan, through these participatory monthly meetings.

Number of position may be increase or decrease as per need base.

Job Responsibilities

• The Field Officer will assist Project Engineer to assess the school WASH facilities and construction related support

• He/She will organize linkage meeting to build a foundation to make available WASH materials like sanitary pad, hand washing soap etc. for maintaining hygienic environment in schools

• Activate/reactive

• Facilitate to the Head Teachers to establish environment friendly school gardening by supporting (vermicomposting demo, seeds, fencing, soil filling leveling, fertilizer and labor cost etc.) nutrition-sensitive, climate-smart school gardening initiatives by coordinating with local farmers and agriculture extension officer.

• Organizing WASH Campaign, encompassing hand washing demonstrations, art and essay competitions, and annual recognition awards for outstanding practitioners.

• Organizing Theatre for Development (TfD) shows at school and community level focusing on Importance of girls’ education, WASH, Nutrition, Health, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) related messages.

• Conducting Orientation on WASH, Nutrition and health issues for selective teachers and students of secondary school.

• Organizing Day observation events to create more aware on world hand washing day-15 October, world Water Day-22 March, menstrual Hygiene Day-28 May etc. at sub-district level.

• Organize and conduct quarterly meeting with WATSAN committee at sub-district level to improve WASH facilities for school and community

• Quarterly joint visit with relevant Govt line departments to monitor progress, identification of challenges and way forward

• Identify and networking and communication with UP level different service providers & establish linkage among community and service providers;

• Build up effective liaisons among the relevant institutions/ organizations/ business institutions and community peoples to get services available to the communities;

• Coordinating with School Management Committee (SMC) to promote school WASH and school gardening..

• Activate / re-activating adolescent corner in secondary school and Union Health & Family Welfare Center

• Collect field level different information and M&E data within scheduled date;

• Collect different problems / learning from the community and sharing in the team for solution & learning and accordingly disseminate the learning in community level that has been collected from the office;

• Prepare the monthly progress report and other requirement as per scheduled date.

• Report to Project Engineer and Project Manager
