  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a large, reputable buying house or garment factory, with involvement in sourcing and shipments for high-end apparel brands, is required.
  • Training in related areas will be considered an added advantage.

Responsibilities & Context

As a “Sustainable Supplier Development Specialist”, you will be responsible for fostering sustainable practices within our supply chain. This role involves collaborating with suppliers to ensure adherence to environmental and ethical standards, facilitating training and development initiatives, and assessing supplier performance against sustainability metrics. Your expertise will contribute to the company’s commitment to sustainability while enhancing supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement in supplier practices. 

Basic Requirements:

  • Ensure 100% compliance with the buyer’s Code of Conduct (COC), local laws, and regulations, with a thorough understanding of local labor and environmental laws.
  • Well-versed in the requirements of HIGG FEM, ZDHC, UNGC, and SBTi, with experience in implementing these standards within the supplier base.
  • Independently manage customer ethical and environmental audits, take immediate corrective actions, and follow up on findings to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct ethical and environmental audits at various factories to verify and assess their compliance with customer Codes of Conduct (COC) and local laws.
  • Well-versed in the requirements of GEORGE/ASDA, G-Star, Aeropostale, JCPenney, Inditex, TAKKO, Pacific Sunwear, Primark, RSC/Nirapon, SEDEX, BSCI, and WRAP.
  • Ensure that all corrective actions are implemented as per the submitted CAP to the customer.
  • Additionally, upload the necessary CAP and supporting evidence to the customer portal within the specified time frame.
  • Regularly monitor the factory to ensure they rectify the highlighted findings according to the commitments outlined in the CAP.
  • Ensure that factories are always prepared for all types of customer and standards audits, including Ethical and Environmental audits.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to gather onboarding documents, review them thoroughly, and organize them in the designated factory folders for easy access and reference.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and factories by providing the necessary information and factory summaries, enabling business teams and higher management to understand the factory’s condition and plan accordingly.
  • Manage the Management Information System (MIS) for the compliance team and audits.
  • This includes creating factory profiles, initiating audits, conducting re-audits, following up on findings, and maintaining the MIS database as needed.
  • Follow up and maintain the internal audit schedule, and reporting status to ensure that internal audits are scheduled, conducted, and reports are released according to the timelines established in the MIS.
  • Follow up with third-party audit firms and prepare a list of pending audits before their expiration.
  • Take the necessary actions to schedule these audits promptly.
  • Regularly communicate with customers and various compliance monitoring firms and stakeholders to get the latest updates for any new changes locally and internationally.
  • Keep the legal and ethical integrity of the company intact through policy enforcement.
