Requirements

Education

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy or any related subject to disability management & rehabilitation from a well reputed university.

Additional Requirements

Requirements:

  • Previous work experience in disability inclusive programmes and rehabilitation management will be an additional qualification.
  • Sound understanding on disability inclusive skills and employment context.
  • Understanding of social & human rights models of disability and applied knowledge to design/shape skills and employment based programs.
  • Experience of working with private sector will be added value

Responsibilities & Context

Background

Under the umbrella of Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF), Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) is a network of employers and employers’ associations, which was formed in collaboration with disability organizations, NGOs and development partners, with the purpose of creating a more disability inclusive workforce in Bangladesh. The network, supported by the International Labor Organization (ILO), was officially launched by the Honorable Prime Minister and the Director General of ILO on 11 December 2016 at the inauguration of the Dhaka Skills Summit. The Network’s mission is to raise business awareness about the positive relationship between the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the workplace and business success. BBDN serve companies of all sizes and markets by encouraging knowledge-sharing and joint activities, thus building disability expertise, facilitating the development of national networks and promoting the business and human rights cases for disability inclusion in the workplace.

This mid-level position within the BBDN team is primarily focused on providing support to senior managers. The main objective of this role is to assist in the process of helping Persons with Disabilities find suitable employment opportunities while also promoting disability inclusivity among employers. As a member of this passionate and committed team, you will contribute to transforming the lives of people with disabilities in Bangladesh and fostering a more welcoming and inclusive workplace culture.

Job Description:

Engagement with Private sector:

  • Independently manage projects under the supervision of senior program managers.
  • Regular contact with stakeholders like; employers, associations, chambers, resource members, OPDs, development partners, and relevant government agencies to update about BBDN programs and promote events in different mainstream media.
  • Meet potential employers in different sectors and pitch the disability inclusion agenda and aware them to agree the principles.
  • Organize and mobilize disability inclusion services for the employers and skills providing institutions under different programs.
  • Prepare disability inclusion strategy for the individual business and support/hand hold them to the implementation level.
  • Capacity building/ training needs assessment of the employers.
  • Conduct training like; awareness building on disability, deep dive training on disability inclusion process, Return To Work process, Management of Occupational and work related diseases etc. for the employers and TVET professionals.
  • Develop/update different training modules and curriculum on above mentioned issues with the team.
  • Conduct need based research for the organization mainly in disability inclusive employment field.
  • Monitoring of the project implementation process and quality control support as required.
  • Sources relevant experts from the network for training and projects.
  • Communicate/motivate the BBDN member & non-member organizations to job circulation/vacancies for the person with disabilities.
  • Offer/organize services for the BBDN members against the membership fees.
  • Disseminate the inclusive Job opportunities in appropriate channels to reach proper candidates for business members.
  • Maintain close communication with the employers working group to assist them in the process of hiring persons with disabilities.

Engagement with candidates:

  • Maintain regular communication with supply side partners (eg. NGOs, DPOs, TVETs etc.) f or sourcing appropriate skilled candidates for employers and maintain a database
  • Identify appropriate training/training institutes for the candidate with disabilities.
  • Work with OPDs, training institutes and employers for the identification, upskilling, internship and employment of persons with disabilities.
  • Arrange and provide post-placement support and reasonable adjustment support to the candidates who are placed in different companies through job fair/spot interview.
  • Represent BBDN in different forums/meetings/workshops.
  • Develop, edit, proof-read documents such as concept notes, reports, articles, proposals and any other documentation
  • Support and participate in BBDN team meetings, activities and events as required for effective implementation.

Period of Contact: Initially for 01 year (date of joining) have possibility to extend based on performance.

Reportable to: Head of Operations/Programme Manager.

Job location: Based in Dhaka, but may require travel to other parts of the country occasionally.

Work station: Motijheel, Dhaka.

Compensation & Other Benefits

Salary/Benefits: Monthly consolidated salary of BDT 60,000 all inclusive. Necessary tax will be deducted from your salary.

Other Benefits: Entitled to get 2 (Two) festival bonus, Provident fund & Gratuity fund.

Leave/ Holidays: weekly 5 days work including all government holidays. Any other holiday as per Bangladesh Business and Disability Network policy. Also, able to enjoy 14 days yearly leave based on personal needs.
