Responsibilities & Context
Contract Duration : Short term (Two & half months)
Provide comprehensive SRHR services including maternal health, family planning, STI prevention and treatment, antenatal and postnatal care, and safe childbirth.
Conduct clinical assessments and provide emergency obstetric care when necessary.
Ensure safe abortion care or post-abortion care, where legally permissible and culturally sensitive.
Coordinate with other health workers, humanitarian partners, and local authorities to ensure a comprehensive health response.
Liaise with SRHR program managers to ensure seamless integration of SRHR into broader health services (e.g., nutrition, mental health, HIV/AIDS).Participate in health cluster meetings and community outreach initiatives.
Lead mobile health camp for comprehensive SRHR services, including family planning, menstrual hygiene, and safe maternal health practices.
Train and supervise local health staff on SRHR services, focusing on flood-related challenges like increased exposure to sexual violence, disruption of services, etc.
Advocate for gender-sensitive health services that address the specific needs of marginalized groups.
Monitor SRHR service delivery and maintain accurate records of medical interventions.
Provide timely reports on health indicators, service coverage, and challenges to the project coordinator or program manager.
Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and humanitarian standards such as the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for SRHR.
Ensure that necessary medical supplies, including SRHR kits, medicines, and contraceptives, are available and accessible.
Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure proper storage and distribution of medical supplies.
Conduct training sessions for health workers on integrated SRHR services, with a focus on emergency obstetric care, gender-based violence (GBV) response, and HIV/AIDS care.
Mentor junior medical staff and local health personnel to build sustainable health services in the community.
Work Conditions:
Field-based position, requiring frequent travel to flood-affected areas.
Living conditions may be basic and challenging, including exposure to hazardous conditions like floodwaters, disease outbreaks, and limited infrastructure.
Working hours may be irregular and long, depending on the evolving emergency situation.
This role is essential in ensuring access to critical health services for affected populations, particularly focusing on SRHR needs in the context of a humanitarian crisis.
The Medical Officer will play a pivotal role in saving lives and reducing vulnerability in flood-affected areas.
