Responsibilities & Context
The Lawyer/Barister will ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations across the RMG, textile, real estate, and FMCG industries. This role emphasizes proactive management of environmental, health, and safety matters while overseeing the company’s legal functions, including litigation, and collaborating with committees to address and mitigate legal and regulatory risks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep consciousness of ethical implications in legal decisions and actively foster a culture of integrity within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, particularly regarding environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Develop and implement compliance strategies specific to each industry, regularly assessing and adapting to evolving regulatory requirements.

Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate regulatory risks throughout the organization.

Lead and coordinate committees focused on regulatory and environmental matters.

Respond proactively to emerging regulations, implementing industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Oversee special projects related to legal and regulatory issues as directed by the Managing Director.

Anticipate compliance risks and devise effective, strategic solutions.

Conduct thorough research on current and upcoming regulatory requirements impacting the group’s industries.

Produce comprehensive reports and briefing materials to support informed decision-making by the Managing Director.

Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.

Effectively represent the company’s interests, staying informed of regulatory changes, and advocating for industry-aligned policies.

Manage litigation processes, initiating and defending legal actions as necessary.

Work closely with external legal counsel for case management, providing regular updates to leadership.

Prepare detailed written submissions and deliver oral testimony at public hearings.

Advocate for policies that align compliance with corporate sustainability goals.

Work with cross-functional teams on various projects and advocacy efforts within the group’s industries.

Promote a culture of compliance awareness throughout the organization to ensure all regulatory and legal obligations are met.

Provide expert legal advice on labor law issues, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Monitor changes in labor laws and assess their impact on the organization.

Advise management on labor relations, employment policies, and best practices to ethically mitigate legal risks.

Manage labor disputes, including negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations.

Represent the organization in labor law cases before administrative bodies and courts.

Prepare and file necessary legal documents, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements.

Develop and implement labor policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and ethical practices.

Conduct training sessions for management and staff on labor law and compliance matters.

Collaborate with HR to ensure employment practices are legally compliant and ethically sound.

Maintain accurate records of labor-related legal matters and prepare detailed reports for management review.

Ensure all legal dealings related to labor matters are conducted with the highest ethical standards.

Supervise and mentor junior legal staff, promoting a culture of ethical decision-making.

Develop and implement effective defense strategies tailored to individual criminal cases, focusing on ethical considerations.

Lead all phases of the criminal defense process, from pre-trial to post-trial.

Advise the organization on potential legal risks and recommend strategies to ethically mitigate these risks.

Stay updated on changes in criminal law and relevant legal precedents.

Provide expert legal advice on company law matters, including corporate governance, compliance, and mergers and acquisitions.

Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, managing legal disputes in collaboration with external counsel.

Conduct training sessions on legal compliance and corporate governance for staff and management.

Manage all phases of financial legal cases, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Provide conscious legal advice on land acquisition, leasing, and development matters, considering ethical implications.

Manage disputes related to land issues and represent the organization in legal proceedings concerning land disputes.
