Responsibilities & Context
Introduction:
Workers Resource Centre, a joint platform the National Coordination Committee for Workers’ Education (NCCWE) and the IndustriALL Bangladesh Council (IBC), launched in 2018 serves as a one-stop-shop for workers necessary information, education, and assistance on labour-related grievances, supporting and promoting social dialogue and non-litigious dispute prevention and resolution. It also aims to build the capacity of trade unions to operate more efficiently and to provide better services to members and to workers alike.
The WRC is providing support to the workers and trade unions through dispute resolution and the Trade Union International Labour Standards Committee (TU ILS Committee). It is seeking a programme coordinator to support the two areas of work.
WRC is expanding its services to workers and trade unions through the introduction of a dedicated Dispute Resolution Wing, that will provide legal support, including case handling, analysis, opinion, representation through a team of paralegals and labour lawyers. The entire process will be managed through a digital case management system, that will consist of e-documentation of all applications and pending cases. The Programme Coordinator will be responsible to manage the digital case management system, including on-time data input, delivery and coordination with labour lawyers and paralegals.
The TU ILS Committee was established on May 30, 2022, following a joint consultation by the NCCWE and the IBC. This committee was formed to address the need for united efforts by trade unions concerning Bangladesh Labour Act (BLA), 2006 reform, responding to reports from the ILO’s Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR), and advocating for the ratification of relevant ILO Conventions.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) is providing technical and financial assistance to the WRC and TU ILS Committee.
Reporting lines:

The Deputy Programme Officer will contribute to the implementation of the activities of WRC, in the area of dispute resolution and TU ILS Committee under the overall guidance and supervision of Programme Officer, Dispute Resolution Wing, and the TU ILS Committee Convener. The Deputy Programme Officer will also work closely with NCCWE, IBC, officials in the Labour Administration and Working Conditions (LAWC) cluster of the ILO Country Office and other industry stakeholders.
Description of Duties:
