Job Purpose

Bangladesh America Maitree Project, awarded in October 2023 and expected to run for 5 years. The goal of the Maitree Project is to advance broad-based, inclusive, and more sustainable development through strong local partnerships that complement USAID/Bangladesh’s CDCS and development objectives. Under the Maitree Project,BRAC will establish a grant-making mechanism to provide funding to qualifying local recipients through a local, competitive process; increase the organizational capacity of recipient organizations to compete for grants and implement development interventions; and; build the capacity of local organizations to collaborate, build networks, and develop local solutions to development problems.

The Lead, Health is responsible for driving strategic initiatives and ensuring quality processes within the Health thematic area. Th support and review strategies and actions from Maitree partners, while monitoring and evaluating their activities and participating in capacity-strengthening efforts. The Lead contributes to key planning tools, such as the Theory of Change, Logical Framework, Program Integration and Implementation Framework, Annual Work Plan, and donor reporting indicators. They also review Expressions of Interest (EOI) and grant proposals, ensuring integration with other thematic areas for greater impact. Additionally, the Lead provides strategic guidance, builds connections with relevant organizations, and advocates for health issues while promoting gender sensitivity and diversity.
Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to develop the Theory of Change (ToC), performance indicators, and the Performance Indicator and Indicator Framework (PIIF), including activity result chains and integration strategies.

Review study reports, field data, and research documents to extract insights and generate knowledge for the project and its partners, ensuring continuous learning and improvement.

Promote locally led solutions by facilitating local knowledge generation and integrating Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) into thematic activities to ensure inclusivity and equity.

Assist in reviewing Expressions of Interest (EOI) and grant proposals for selecting project partners.

Collaborate with partners to improve their implementation plans and address technical gaps.

Develop and monitor partner activity plans in coordination with MEL, recommending adjustments to enhance performance and align with budget guidelines.

Design and develop training modules, guidelines, and tools for high-quality program implementation, conducting technical training for partners and project staff as required.

Provide ongoing support to partners through joint field visits, staff meetings, and targeted assistance based on the needs of Partner NGOs (PNGO).

Participate in technical capacity-building initiatives, tailoring support to partners’ specific capacity-strengthening needs.

Support partner capacity assessment activities to identify improvement areas and implement effective capacity-building strategies.

Develop strong internal and external networks to enhance peer support, technical expertise, and opportunities for scaling and sustainability, helping partners create similar networks.

Represent Maitree at national workshops, seminars, and meetings, engaging with the Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) and Grants Review Board (GRB) to build alliances and gather innovative ideas.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
