Responsibilities & Context

BRAC is an international development organization founded in Bangladesh that partners with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty globally to create sustainable opportunities to realize potential.

With the support of The Global Fund, the BRAC Health Programme has been implementing the Malaria Elimination Project for more than two decades in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP). BRAC works with a people-centered approach across rural areas in 13 malaria-endemic districts of the country. The aim of this initiative is to achieve the elimination of malaria from Bangladesh by 2030, aligning with Bangladesh’s sustainable development goals. This endeavor encompasses various strategies, including malaria diagnosis, treatment, referral services, community mobilization and awareness campaigns, as well as the distribution of insecticidal treated nets (ITNs) to populations at risk of malaria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly action plan according to Malaria and TB Programme guideline to oversee programme implementation in assigned areas.

  • Conduct monthly meeting with shasthya kormi and equivalent staff to analyze field situation and take necessary steps as required.

  • Ensure quality diagnosis, treatment and complete follow-up of patient. Also ensure referral and treatment initiation of complicated patients to upazila health complex or other facilities.

  • Conduct frequent field visits to supervise the field staff activities at the community and facility level.

  • Ensure proper distribution of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs), social behavior change (SBC) activities and targeted community activities.

  • Regularly communicate with government health staff to ensure good coordination in field-level activities.

  • Facilitate internal & external monitoring and audits by different stakeholders.

  • Take proper steps to achieve programme activities in time and to ensure treatment & DOT at the community.

  • Planning and conduct SBC activities as per schedule and guidelines.

  • Ensure follow-up of each patient and their visit to the physician after detected with TB and update the status to the respective supervisor.

  • Increase TB case detection in the assigned geographic area and TB success rate as well.

  • Ensure contact investigation, TPT enrolment & follow-up, HIV screening at community level

  • Ensure regular anti-TB and anti-Malarial drugs and diagnostics supply to all level of field staff.

  • Regular communication & coordination with Govt. and CBO staff working in the health sector.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance report and indent of drugs & logistics and submit to proper channel.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of programme participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
