Responsibilities & Context
This position is responsible for to promote a participatory approach in camp coordination and management activities. Ensure refugees are aware and well informed about SMS activities and encourage their active participation and feedback. Ensure that refugees are familiar with referral mechanisms and aware of the various service providers available in the camp. Serve as a liaison between SMS and the camp communities, facilitating service monitoring at the block level and enhancing community engagement. Provide support for disaster preparedness and response, oversee volunteer efforts, build their capacity, and ensure timely reporting.
Community Engagement and Participation:
-
Ensure equal access to participate in all camp activities for all community groups
-
Encourage community participation through groups such as neighborhood, thematic groups, persons with specific needs, etc
-
Facilitate creating ownership of camp residents through their participation and active engagement in various activities.
Promote Governance and Community Structure:
-
In coordination with CiC and partners, set up the camp community governance structure
-
Involve members of the camp population as volunteers in tasks/projects designed in consultation with the refugee community
Supervision and Communication:
-
Propose and facilitate communication in the camp that is understandable by the camp/site population
-
Supervise and monitor assigned tasks for site management volunteers at block and sub-block levels
-
Keep close communication and supervision with the block volunteer leader to ensure timely completion of assignments and ensure all deliverables
-
Develop a network of communication with volunteers and stakeholders for quick and timely response and support the community people
Emergency Preparedness and Response:
-
Ensure awareness raising, early warning, message dissemination and prepared communities in advance to mitigate risks
-
Work as a quick responder during any emergency or incidents and guide volunteers to support communities
-
Ensure community consultation and implementation of community led initiatives
Capacity Building and Training:
-
Promote and coordinate capacity-building activities of communities and volunteers
-
Facilitate and coordinate training for camp committee members and community structures in the camp
-
Organize and conduct volunteers meeting and ensure necessary guidance
Service Monitoring and Quality Implementation:
-
Conduct service monitoring of different sectors and partners in the camp
-
Support and promote a dignified and healthy living environment of camp residents
-
Maintain coordination and support for quality items distribution for comfort living
Reporting, Documentation, and Compliance:
-
Prepare and submit timely, accurate project reports, including progress reports, VMT report, community structure engagement report and financial reports

Document various camp activities, maintaining records maintaining standards, including service monitoring, beneficiary and vacant shelter tracking, incident logs
-
Capture case stories, best practices and lessons learned and ensure visibility/signage
Safety and Safeguarding:
-
Ensure the safety of programme participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment

Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action

Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
