Responsibilities & Context
ROLE
USAID HICRA Master Trainers will primarily conduct HICRA “trainer of trainer (ToT) or training of facilitator (ToF)” training for frontline staff (in multiple batches) utilising specific training modules. These in-house trainings will be conducted at the union, upazila and/or district-level and are intended to build staff capacity in technical content and training methodology. Under the direction of the training specialist, the Master Trainers will field test modules to support improvement of sessions/training materials and teach the field facilitators and community mobilizers how to deliver training to program participants in a participatory and impactful manner using proven pedagogical approaches. The ToTs/ToF’s are intended to build capacity of HICRA program participants with low, or no literacy, and/or non-Bangla speakers. The candidate will also provide direct training to other HICRA staff and participants as needed, be expected to be well versed in all training material, and lead both in person and on-line training. To further support HICRA’s learning objectives, HICRA’s Master Trainers will also make video-based training job aids for frontline staff, and in some cases, “do it yourself (DIY) videos, for program participants, and provide coaching and mentoring of frontline staff to build their technical understanding and program service delivery.The candidate will create an enabling environment for collaboration, learning and adaptation, contribute to staff capacity building and support localization. This position will also provide the inclusive and well-orchestrated leadership necessary to meet the complex needs of HICRA’s frontline staff and participant training efforts, in cost efficient ways. This includes collaborating with various stakeholders including the Government of Bangladesh, other USAID activities, traditional leaders, UPG communities and HICRA consortium partners. S/he will apply analytical skills to accomplish goals and meet objectives, and demonstrate initiative and willingness to work in partnership with consortium members and key stakeholders. The Master Trainer will ensure activities are completed as per plan, meet USAID requirements, and maintain good relations with all.
Main Areas of Responsibilities:
Provide training to HICRA technical and frontline staff (primarily Community Mobilizers and Field Facilitators) on how to facilitate interactive learning sessions, how to conduct Trainer of Trainer (ToT) and Trainer of Facilitator (ToF) sessions, and how to directly train participants using effective methodologies for low-education/literacy adult learners and/or non-Bangla speakers
Conduct Trainer of Trainer (ToT) and/or Trainer of Facilitator (ToF) training for HICRA field facilitators and community mobiliers at the union and/or upazila level in multiple batches related to on- and off-farm income generation activities, agricultural production, social safety net eligibility criteria and application processes, village saving and lending associations (VSLA), WASH, natural resource management and disaster risk reduction and other content related to the achievement of HICRA outcomes
Train frontline staff in facilitation approaches, gender and social inclusion, adult education training methodologies and other required content and/or approaches
Provide regular on-the-job training in coaching and mentoring and supportive supervision to ensure frontline staff understand the module content, learning objectives and exercises to increase participant learning and improved practices
Conduct regular visits to communities to directly support the Community Mobilizers and Field Facilitators in delivering their sessions, and carrying out their roles as coaches and/or mentors
Conduct spot check monitoring of trainings and co-lead some trainings to support on-the-job training
Support awareness raising for observance days by organising and carrying out special events and activities with frontline staff and/or participants
Help Community Mobilizers develop action plans to support the enrolment of UPG participants in social safety net programs
Support technical team to develop training schedules
Support upazila and union coordinators to organise TOTs/refresher trainings for frontline staff
Support frontline staff to update and track monthly work plans – ensuring all sessions to be conducted are planned and that they have been trained
Support frontline staff to ensure timely entry of Data into HICRA’s MIS
Field test modules and collaborate with training specialist and technical leads to adapt as necessary to increase learning
Observe trends, social norms, and challenges to determine what works and what does not, and why and provide this feedback to technical leads and training specialist
Support Training specialist and technical team to update/adapt training materials
Assist with the collection of success stories
Assist with preparation of site visits by high-level officials
Develop individual work plans in line with the HICRA detailed implementation plans
Attend monthly upazila/union and/or district-level meetings
Provide weekly updates on progress against plans
Elevate concerns, challenges and issues
