  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Bengali, with the ability to explain complex MEL concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Familiarity with USAID’s MEL guidelines and experience in managing MEL for donor-funded projects is a plus.

Position Summary:

An analytical and detail-oriented professional with a passion for monitoring, evaluation, and continuous learning. The MEL Officer for the Maitree Project will support the implementation of the project’s MEL framework, ensuring timely data collection, analysis, and reporting on project impact. This role will involve close collaboration with project teams, local partners, and stakeholders to track project progress and inform data-driven adjustments for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Monitoring and Evaluation System Development:

  • Assist in designing and implementing the MEL framework aligned with the Maitree Project’s objectives and indicators.
  • Develop data collection tools and methodologies for tracking project outcomes related to child marriage prevention, community engagement, and economic empowerment.
  • Ensure that MEL activities adhere to USAID’s and BRAC’s standards for data quality and accuracy.

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Oversee the data collection process for key project activities, such as community dialogues, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure accurate and consistent data gathering across all four upazilas in Sunamganj.
  • Perform data cleaning, entry, and analysis to track progress against project targets.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare regular MEL reports for internal and external stakeholders, detailing project progress, outcomes, and any deviations from the planned objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to integrate MEL findings into monthly and quarterly project reports.
  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and challenges encountered during project implementation.

Quality Assurance and Data Validation:

  • Conduct regular data quality checks to ensure the reliability and accuracy of collected data.
  • Guide project team members and local partners on best practices for data collection and reporting.
  • Implement corrective measures for any data discrepancies, ensuring data integrity across all MEL activities.

Learning and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops for the project team to discuss insights, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Encourage a culture of learning within the project team, promoting data-driven decision-making and continuous adaptation.
  • Develop learning briefs and visual reports to communicate MEL insights to project stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:

  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including community leaders, local government, and youth organizations, to gather feedback and insights for MEL purposes.
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring and Reporting Officer and Finance team to ensure MEL processes align with financial and operational requirements.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to share project impact and facilitate transparent, open communication.

Capacity Building:

  • Conduct training sessions for project staff and partners on MEL tools, data collection methods, and best practices.
  • Provide on-site support and guidance to local partners in Sunamganj to build their capacity for effective monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the development of local partners’ skills in utilizing data for decision-making and reporting.
