Requirements

Education

Additional Requirements

  • Have experience in WASH in Emergency/ DRR/climate change and adaption with the minimum 3 years’ experience in development organization.

  • Public health/ WASH background with at least 3 years of WASH & IPC and training facilitation-related working experience in emergency contexts.

  • Keep strong coordination with other implementing agencies, donors, and local governmental authorities at the field level.

  • Facilitation skills on training.

  • Prior knowledge and experience humanitarian contexts in Cox’s bazar are in advantage.

  • Experience in Medical waste management in the healthcare facility will be an asset.

  • English skills average (written, spoken and reading).

  • Understand/fluency of Cox’s Bazar’s local dialect is an asset.

  • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.

  • Strong attitude to take initiative, work autonomously and achieve results effectively; Flexibility and Stress-management.

  • Have strong training and facilitation skills.

  • Demonstration “Can do” and “do no harm” attitude.

Responsibilities & Context

Reports to: Project Officer- IPC (WASH in Health)

Role Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Officer-IPC (based in Ramu/Ukhiya/ Eidgaon/Teknaf or any Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district), the FP will be responsible, at the field level, to plan, develop, and supervise all WASH & IPC protocols implementation at Health Care Facilities and schools’ level in collaboration with HEKS/EPER project team and local authorities. He/she will ensure efficient and timely implementation of this project, in accordance with national, WHO’s and UNICEF’s WASH FIT approach and sector working group standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning Implementation: Assess the WASH & IPC needs and gaps of the government healthcare facilities by using KoBo and other participatory tools.

  • Assist HCFs in developing the yearly facility improvement plan.

  • Continuous follow-up with union-level health supervisors i.e. CHCP/HI/AHI/FPI/ and other health service providers acquired essential services from the Upazila Health administration.

  • Mobilize and facilitate meetings with community group, community support group, and HCF – management committees, where appropriate, for the proper functioning of the facilities.

  • Support facility-based health staff i.e. CHCP and FWVs by giving technical advice and guidance to ensure basic WASH services are in place.

  • Provide reports on-going activities, and support PO-IPC to prepared varies project reports including completion.

  • Coordination, Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation: Regular field visits to monitor the WASH situation in the healthcare facilities.

  • Maintenance liaison, communication and coordination with the agencies that are works in HCFs.

  • Facilitate HCFs committee to review the progress of the HCF by using participatory tools.

  • Supervise distribution of essential items and prepare and document muster roll.

  • Compile monthly activity reports and reports to your respective line manager.

  • Support PO-IPC to conduct the supportive supervision & joint monitoring visit.

  • Capacity Strengthening: Support PO-IPC to developed training module/guidelines as on project requirements.

  • Facilitate trainings/session/orientation on WASH in healthcare, MHM, WASH in School and community mobilization at HCFs and school label.

  • Manage and build technical capacities of the local health service providers through coaching, demonstration etc.

  • Participate in different trainings nominated by the line manager.

  • Coordination and Advocacy: Maintain liaison and communication with the Union Parishad, SMC & HCF management committee to smoothly operation the project activities.

  • Assist PO-IPC to advocate WASH in Health and School issues with the local stakeholders and government officials.

  • Ensure a steady and active representation of HEKS/EPER at cluster level as well in all the other significant meetings.

  • Represent organization at Union and Upazila ( need based) label by participating meeting, workshop etc.

  • Safety and Security: Provide timely incident report to the line manager as needed.

  • Practice and promote the issues of the safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

  • General: Deliver high quality results in line with the terms of reference agreed in advance – to do this in a way which maintains the reputation of the Humanitarian Department.

  • Comply with organization policies and practice with respect to code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

  • Proactively support organization commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity: i) Implement all work-related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens, considering the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries ii)Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities iii) Encourage the participation of all genders in meeting and on committees iv)Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.
