Responsibilities & Context
Community Development Centre (CODEC) is going to implement the Improve Access to Inclusive and Comprehensive Eye Health Services in Bangladesh Project funded by CBM Global Disability Inclusion in Bakerganj, Banaripara and Barishal Sadar Upazillas under Barishal District, Bangladesh.
Improves Access to Inclusive and Comprehensive Eye Health Services in Bangladesh Project With Support from CBM Global Disability Inclusion aims to establish an inclusive eye care system connecting the main base hospital, community clinics, and vision centers. The context underscores the lack of awareness among persons with disabilities and underprivileged communities regarding available services.
Improve access to inclusive and comprehensive eye health services in Bangladesh Project will collaborate with three Disabled People’s Organizations (OPDs) – Bakerganj, Banaripara, and Barishal Sadar – along with Sher-E-Bangla Hospital, private hospitals (Grameen Shastho Hospital Barishal, Islamia Hospital Barishal), and the National Eye Care (NEC) of Bangladesh. CODEC will sign MoUs with OPDs, district-level hospitals, and private hospitals, fostering collaboration to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in eye health services.
Project Goal/Overall objective: Improve access to inclusive and comprehensive eye health services in Bangladesh.
Specific objective: Persons with disabilities, persons at risk of disabilities, and marginalized community members in Barishal have improved access to comprehensive eye care services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the project team in the organization of a Kick-off workshop to orientate them on global disability inclusion guidelines and understand their needs in terms of capacity building.
- Monitoring Inclusion throughout the project: Define the monitoring mechanism and monitor regularly
- Capacity building and on-job coaching for Govt. Stakeholders and partner staff working on vision Centers to improve their knowledge and skills on the inclusion of people with Disabilities
- Capacity building and on-job coaching for Project staff and community volunteers, in terms of early identification of persons with disabilities and assist with information, referrals, and accompaniment to services
- Provide on-site technical support to Vision Centers to improve the inclusion of persons with disabilities in their services
- Orient staffs from Vision Centers on disability inclusion and inclusive eye health service
- Collect good practices of disability-inclusive eye health services and disseminate with all external stakeholders
- Take lead and coordinate the celebration of different days (International Day of Person with Disability, World Sight day, Women’s Day etc.
- Develop the feedback mechanism to improve Inclusive Eye Health Service
- Support PM in PSEA & Safeguarding mechanism and Gender Inclusion
- Conduct Accessibility Assessment and support NEC vision Centers to make their services accessible
- Support program team in the development of IEC materials on inclusive eye health
- Organize lessons learned workshop with selected stakeholders in consultation with Project manager and CBMG Bangladesh team
- Prepare the relevant Budget plan to organize training, workshop, and necessary materials
- Liaise with other team members to conduct surveys, study, and improve the scope of inclusion in the internal program
- Upon request of the Project Manager participate in external meetings to provide technical input on disability inclusion
- Prepare work plan(s), feedback of meetings/ field visits, and periodic reports
- Identify training needs and plan/conduct training to enhance the capacity of the beneficiaries
- Maintain monitoring and evaluation systems
- Participate in the meetings assigned by the line manager
- Regular update the field situation to line manager and follow his/her suggestions/recommendations
- Ensure staff capacity development, including on-the-job coaching and mentoring, as appropriate. Conduct regular management supervision sessions for staff
- Ensuring a respectful working environment for employees and the public
- Ensure OPD engagement throughout the project & Meaningful participation of people with disabilities in project activity
- Capacity building and on-job coaching for OPD members in terms of early identification of persons with disabilities and assist with information, referrals, and ac-accompaniment to services
- Establishing good relation with CEO and staff members Organization of Person with Disability (OPD)s
- Re-enforce and develop capacity of OPDs regarding advocacy- lobby, Inclusiveness, financial management, networking, disability and gender responsiveness and inclusive development
- Ensure effective cooperation, coordination, and representation of the project with local stakeholders
- Promote improved understanding and awareness on quality eye health service among all relevant stakeholders, including government officials
- Accountable for the image of the organization in Bangladesh and must promote its philosophy and approach
- Must respect an obligation of discretion on all confidential information about the organization
- Must respect the strict public distance of political and religious neutrality of the organization
- Has to respect Donor/project communication, Data protection rule, and visibility guideline
- Must abide by the Organizations related different policies (like Child Protection Policy (CPP)
- and Protection of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (PSEA), Data Protection and Anti Bribery etc.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by ED & Higher Authority
- S/he should abide by WHO guideline on Vision for all and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy. Ensure the safety of team members (in respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse – PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
