Responsibilities & Context

Responsible for fabric and garment developments. Subsequently, includes focusing on process improvement, fabric & garment innovation, training & building teams, and functioning as a manufacturing-merchandising liaison. Strategically, accountable for establishing management development systems, structure teams to attain customer quality & cost expectations, enable speed to market, build flexibility capabilities and create/foster a process improvement, quality, and innovation culture. Provides leadership and technical support to align with business growth plans and objectives. Safeguarding the PDD team to continue to create products that support Gildan to maintain its competitive advantage within all our business units (Printwear, BA, GLB).

  • Responsible for internal development of all fabric types according to the seasonal marketing requirements. Approve internal lab testing results for all new and existing fabrics and set all QC requirements related to fabric performance to ensure they meet customer requirements. Research trends in the market and interpret from the price point.
  • Validate the quality and performance of sourced fabric. Implement fabric developed in production plants and be responsible for the integration in the manufacturing processes and monitor the fabric performance to ensure is meeting the quality requirements. of the fabric with the standard cost·
  • Provide initial manufacturing process capacity analysis for new fabric developments, allowing manufacturing and planning teams to plan for new product launches to include, creating textile specifications, maintaining SharePoint and any additional systems related to fabric development processes.
  • Monitor the ongoing fabric performance of all fabric and garment types produced in the company to include working on and driving process improvements as required, this will include working directly with customers, 3rd party testing labs and all contractors used to produce fabrics for the company.
  • Ensure product development lead-times are inline to support commercialization for current and future business opportunities and ensure they are aligned with company objectives that will include reviewing and approving fabric / garment cost of new products working closely with finance and BUs as required.
  • Interact as necessary with all domestic and foreign contractors and suppliers to include yarn, fiber, machine vendors, research institutes domestic and international on present and new technological innovations including competitor analysis as required to help Gildan maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Provides technical support and training for the development teams as necessary to ensure that they fully understand the product and customer requirements required to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. Analysis fabrics/garments provided by the business to determine if should produce internally or source the product initially.
  • Responsible for sustainability ESG strategy and targets working with cross functional teams to implement products and consider corporate goals when developing new products.
