- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Bengali; knowledge of English is an advantage.

- Flexibility, patience, and resilience in working in challenging environments.
- Ability to travel within the project area and work outside regular office hours when necessary.
Responsibilities & Context
Job Context:
SAINT-Bangladesh is a value based independent, non-profit and Non-Government Organization (NGO), participating in survival strategies of coastal poor. It believes in integration of right based approach in striving for people centered sustainable development initiatives, maintaining a level of transparency, participation, accountability, child and gender sensitivity and respect to human rights and dignity principles in management. SAINT-Bangladesh is seeking a professional for the position of Project Officer for the project: “Advancing Gender-Responsive Climate Actions for Urban Resilience in Barishal City Corporation.” supported by “Climate Bridge Fund-CBF”, Co-funded by KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau). The project will be implemented in Barishal City from January 2025. Note that this requirement will depend on the availability of donor fund.
Position Overview:
The Project Officer will be pivotal in ensuring the effective implementation and management of the project, with a focus on achieving measurable impacts for the target communities. This role involves planning, organizing, and monitoring project activities, particularly in areas like WASH infrastructure, livelihood development, and disaster resilience. The Project Officer will act as a bridge between community stakeholders, local authorities, and partner organizations, fostering collaboration and ensuring that the project’s impact, objectives. The role involves coordinating with community members, local authorities, and stakeholders to enhance community involvement in project activities, promote sustainable practices, and ensure the effective implementation of WASH facilities and livelihood opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of climate change, disaster resilience, gender issues, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record in project management. They will be committed to creating a positive impact in the lives of climate migrants and addressing the challenges they face in their slum communities. This role involves coordinating with stakeholders, managing project staff, ensuring compliance with CBF/KfW and SAINT-Bangladesh’s guidelines, and facilitating community engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
________________________________________Key Responsibilities:
- 1. Community Mobilization and Engagement:
- o Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and training sessions on project goals, activities, and benefits.
- o Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and stakeholders.
- o Support the formation and capacity-building of Slum Development Rights Groups (SDRG) to enhance their involvement in project activities.
- 2. Capacity Building and Training:
- o Develop and deliver training sessions on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction (DRR), health, hygiene, and gender awareness.
- o Train community members on the operation and maintenance of WASH facilities and climate-resilient livelihood opportunities.
- o Ensure that training materials are accessible, culturally appropriate, and tailored to the needs of the community.
- 3. Monitoring and Reporting:
- o Monitor the progress of community engagement activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and objectives.
- o Collect and document data on community participation, feedback, and impact of project interventions.
- o Prepare regular reports on community engagement activities, challenges, and outcomes for project management and stakeholders.
- 4. Coordination and Networking:
- o Liaise with local authorities, NGOs, and community-based organizations to facilitate project activities and leverage additional support.
- o Organize and participate in coordination meetings with government bodies, City Corporation, and other relevant stakeholders.
- o Advocate for the rights and needs of slum residents, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
- 5. Support and Facilitation:
- o Provide technical support to community members in the establishment and functioning of user committees for WASH facilities.
- o Facilitate outreach activities, including health and legal aid support, to enhance community well-being.
- o Assist in the development and implementation of grievance redress mechanisms to address community concerns and feedback.
- 6. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- o Maintain accurate records of community engagement activities, including attendance, participation, and outcomes.
- o Develop case studies, success stories, and documentation of best practices to share with stakeholders and for project reporting
